"This was the highlight of our nearly 3 week Chile vacation. It was quiet and relaxing, but the owners made it so very interesting. The room, house, and grounds were a delight, and the Casablanca vineyards were only a short drive away. I can't say enough about Gloria and Hector (and little Jolie) - you must meet them in person and enjoy their company and hospitality. But since both breakfast and dinner is included, you will really enjoy those also. Superb, authentic cuisine was presented at each meal - the best food we had in Chile - and the welcome pisco sours and local wine made for stimulating conversation. Our entire visit was wonderful - and much too short! Go out of your way to stay here!"Guest: Eric Date of Stay: November 2014 Review Submitted: December 7, 2014View listing
"We spent ten unforgettable days in this piece of paradise during winter 2014. It was an amazing experience for my whole family. The house is beautifully built, very comfortable and it is located in a quiet and hidden site with the most spectacular view one ca expect! The 10 minutes of pleasant drive to Pucon was close enough to fulfill all my family needs and at the same time far enough to make us feel really isolated in the woods. The night skies were inspiring and the day light came with so many changing colors reflected on the lake that we could calmly feel the happiness of being there. The house itself was a great experience! The owner Patricia, made everything happen in a very easygoing way. Although she was not there, we could feel her care and will to help in every detail. Roshan, Suti and Majida, were delicate and always helpful to our family. Simply unforgettable. The kind of place you feel sorry to leave! A true pleasure!"Guest: Paul P. "I can't think of a better location! The apartment is very nice and new, adjacent to the subway connecting you to the main tourist points. Restaurants, grocery stores, etc on the same block. Laundry room in the building is very convenient. Mauricio and his agent Isabel made everything a breeze. I wouldn't stay anywhere else."Guest: David W. Chile Travel Tips
Getting to Chile Vacation Rentals
The main travel hub in Chile is the capital city of Santiago. The national Chilean carrier is the primary airline that operates into Santiago and provides regional and domestic connections within South America. If you are traveling from further afield, such as North America or Europe, you will possibly need to route via Sao Paolo or Buenos Aires before getting a connection on to Santiago. If you are traveling domestically within Chile, you may consider looking into the air passes that are offered from time to time by the airlines. These passes provide you with a far more affordable way to get around rather than purchasing point-to-point flights.
Chile Travel Attractions and Activities
Chile runs almost the full length of the western coast of South America. The landscape is dominated by the Andes Mountains and beautiful coastline. With these natural attractions, there are many outdoor recreational activities available for visitors.
The ski resorts in Chile are ranked as some of the best in the world. National ski teams from Europe and North America frequently spend their summer training months in Chile to hone their skills. There are a vast number of resorts. Some of the most popular are located just a short drive from Santiago. Smaller resorts can be found all the way down to Patagonia and very popular with the locals.
Trekking and mountaineering are other popular pastimes. Climbing in the Andes can be challenging and very technical in parts. Patagonia is well known for its excellent routes and climbers travel from all over the world to test their skills on the terrain. It is not a place for inexperienced mountaineers or climbers. The terrain and the climate are harsh and mistakes can be fatal. Chile has a well-established mountain rescue organization that provides support to climbers if they run into trouble. When trekking, ensure you have their number handy so you can get in touch with them if needed.
If you enjoy water sports, a great excursion is to go sea kayaking along the coast. See dolphins and possibly even whales in season. The coastline is spectacularly beautiful and when kayaking, you can get up close to birds, seals and other marine life.
If you enjoy culture and history, there are many museums to visit in Santiago and other major cities. While Chile once had many beautiful building displaying colonial architecture, many have been damaged or destroyed by the earthquakes that frequently rock the country.
Best Time of Year to Visit Chile Vacation Houses
If you plan to go skiing or mountaineering, the best time of year to visit is during the colder winter months. The winter season starts in May and snowfalls are usually consistent enough for the ski resorts to open in early June. The ski season typically runs through August or September, depending on snowfall and temperatures. If you want to enjoy the coastline and many beautiful beaches, the ideal time to visit would be during the warmer summer months which run from October through April.
