  • Been here 3 times and will go back again!

"This is my secret gem in Cartagena. I've found this place probably two years ago and immediately fell in-love with it - so much that I just returned and this was my 3rd time staying there. Aracely is very accommodating and responsive. The apartment is extremely comfy, it has a great location, amazing views, the common areas are always clean, the building staff is very friendly and the location is very safe. As I said, I've been there 3 times and its great to see that every time I arrive to this place I see some new improvements to make our stay better and better. Great place to stay! I will give them more than 5 stars!"

  • This Spot Can't Be Beat

"Honestly, we stayed in two wonderful locations, but this one can't be beat. First off, the apartment is great. It was very clean and spacious. Wi-fi, cable, and laundry all inside. Location was phenomenal. No need for taxi. ATM, stores, restaurants, etc. all within walking distance. Also place was very secure (three locks to get in AND out). The Owner was great and flexible. We changed our flight to return to Medellin a day early, and he made sure we were taken care of. Even with us coming in very late, he still managed to accomadate us. We will probably only rent from this owner if we return to Colombia again. Aside from his properties being excellent, he and his staff are like the icing on the cake. For first time visitors, we had a great and problem-free experience."

  • Spacious and Quiet

"Two adults spent 10 days here and could not have asked for more. The apartment is spacious and clean, with a wrap-around balcony facing the water where you can enjoy hours of relaxation - what a view of Cartagena! The roof-top pool was never crowded and always clean. Having a maid was a bonus as she tended to all the daily chores including preparing lunch. No car is needed as taxis are inexpensive and readily available - just tell the security guard where you want to go. This location is east of the airport so is less congested, quieter, and has unfettered access to the beach. We did not experience much pestering from beach vendors as others have reported. We shopped for groceries at Carulla and Surti-Max both of which have decent variety. A taxi trip to the old city is a must (we paid 1200 Pesos each way). A private tour of most attractions can be arranged through Guianza Express (Walter) which we highly recommend. This location/property was so enjoyable we plan to return. The owner is accessible and is very good at responding promptly when you have questions. Other owners in the building are friendly and willing to help if you need it. The VRBO listing accurately describes the property."

  • Great place, great value

"The penthouse is a great place to rent for families or couples. I had my teenage and older children. Everyone loved the huge deck and the views of Medellin. The pool table was a nice bonus. All the rooms are large, well appointed and each has it's own nice bathroom. Tons of space, great location, nice owner. This was the best place we stayed at on our trip and would recommend it to anyone with a large group wanting to spend a few days in Medellin."

Colombia Travel Tips

Attractions and Activities near Colombia Vacation Rentals

There are many cultural attractions, museums, historic buildings and cultural festivals that make Columbia an attractive destination to visit. Because of its location, Columbia has had many cultural influences, including Indian, Spanish and African influences. This is evident as you explore the many historic sites of the area.

Columbia is considered by many to be an adventure mecca. There is whitewater rafting, jungle trekking, horseback riding, and a variety of extreme sports available. The Pacific coastline is a favorite place for whale watching. Visitors can experience nature and wildlife tours in the Amazon jungle with experienced guides. The beaches are places where you can relax and simply enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings as you soak up the sun.

Colombia Travel Tips

For many years, travelers were warned of visiting Colombia because of the political factions that were regarded as dangerous. In the past decade though, the government has taken strong measures to improve security in order to attract more foreign tourists. Tourist numbers have increases significantly and many travel magazines rate Columbia as top travel destination because of the diverse landscapes and many natural and cultural attractions. It is nevertheless still a destination where you need to be street smart. Don’t leave baggage unattended and don’t walk around the city on your own at night. Take a taxi and have a map or guide book with you so you know where you are going. Don’t display expensive jewelry or cameras when you are walking around. On the plus side, you will be able to find colorful souvenirs to take home and be able to sample what is arguably the world’s best coffee. No doubt you will want to take some home with you but be aware of customs allowances.

Finding Your Way to Colombia Vacation Apartments

The primary airport in Colombia is the El Dorado International Airport in Bogota. The airport is a relatively modern structure and hosts a number of local, regional and international airlines. There are relatively frequent commercial flights to North America. The closest U.S. city is Miami which is a three- to four-hour flight away. New York City is four to five hours away by plane and Los Angeles is eight to nine hours away by plane. For travelers from Europe, there are regularly scheduled commercial flights from both Paris and Madrid. People traveling from other parts of the world can route via any of these hubs or major cities in South America, such as Sao Paolo or Buenos Aires. El Dorado’s central location in the region makes it one of the busiest airports in South America in terms of transporting both passengers and cargo. If you are traveling to another destination in Colombia, it is best to fly. While there are good road links, traveling times can be long because of the many mountain passes that need to be navigated.

Cartagena Vacation Rentals in Colombia
