Saludos Francisco Valenzuela Cornejo"

  • Nice place, friendly owners & staff

"My boyfriend and I stayed here for 19 days. It's a really huge space for just 2 people! The owners & staff were very friendly, but the staff did not speak English and the owner wasn't always around (we didn't expect him to be), so communication was hard sometimes since we knew only a little Spanish. Sometimes we thought they said they were coming to clean on a certain day, but then they came a couple days later instead, so we weren't sure if that was a communication issue, or if they changed their plans without telling us. (Not a big deal though; they cleaned often enough.) The only minor complaints were that they didn't have screens in the windows, so bugs would get in if we wanted to open them to get some breeze. There is AC though. The kitchen had just about everything we could have wanted, but no measuring cups, except for cup with the rice cooker. The electricity went out 3 or 4 times while we were there, which also shut off the water. It usually came on again after a couple hours or less."

  • Great place for a family

"This attractive 3 BR condo was perfect for our family of 5 adults. It was clean and comfortable. We appreciated having access to wifi, and the location near the Oviedo mall was very convenient. We loved the grocery store right across the street. Getting taxis (an inexpensive way to get around town) was a breeze because the Sheraton hotel is also right there. The mall had everything we needed: restaurants, banks, and a cambio (to exchange money). I look forward to staying here the next time we visit Medellin. An earlier review noted a problem with the water heater. We had warm water for quick showers as long as we spaced them out morning and evening. (We made sure we turned the water heater off before leaving each day.) Two tips: if you are a light sleeper, consider bringing a sleep mask and/or earplugs. (One BR overlooks the street, which means you can see lights and hear traffic. I'm an early riser, so it wasn't a problem, but others might want to be prepared.) Remember that this is not a hotel, so bring your own soap to use in the sinks/shower. (With the grocery story so close by, you can buy soap or whatever else you forget to pack.) I would enthusiastically recommend this property to others. Monica answered all of our questions and we were very happy with the entire transaction. For planning purposes, it's useful to know that the airport is about a 45-minute ride outside of town. The cost for a taxi was about $38."

  • SIX YEARS LATER...

"Everything we had to say about this apartment (See Review from September 2008) still holds true. Clearly something about this city, this neighborhood, and this apartment keeps drawing us, bringing us back every year for stays of at least a month. By now, after six years, whenever we arrive we feel like we’re coming home—and that’s not something that can be said about many rental apartments and deserves reiteration. The spaciousness, quality of light, and general level of comfort draw us in every time. Over the years, favorite places have closed but others continue to open. Shared public spaces (cafés and restaurants) is a basic fact (and factor) of Porteño life."

Colombia Travel Tips

Attractions and Activities near Colombia Vacation Rentals

There are many cultural attractions, museums, historic buildings and cultural festivals that make Columbia an attractive destination to visit. Because of its location, Columbia has had many cultural influences, including Indian, Spanish and African influences. This is evident as you explore the many historic sites of the area.

Columbia is considered by many to be an adventure mecca. There is whitewater rafting, jungle trekking, horseback riding, and a variety of extreme sports available. The Pacific coastline is a favorite place for whale watching. Visitors can experience nature and wildlife tours in the Amazon jungle with experienced guides. The beaches are places where you can relax and simply enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings as you soak up the sun.

Colombia Travel Tips

For many years, travelers were warned of visiting Colombia because of the political factions that were regarded as dangerous. In the past decade though, the government has taken strong measures to improve security in order to attract more foreign tourists. Tourist numbers have increases significantly and many travel magazines rate Columbia as top travel destination because of the diverse landscapes and many natural and cultural attractions. It is nevertheless still a destination where you need to be street smart. Don’t leave baggage unattended and don’t walk around the city on your own at night. Take a taxi and have a map or guide book with you so you know where you are going. Don’t display expensive jewelry or cameras when you are walking around. On the plus side, you will be able to find colorful souvenirs to take home and be able to sample what is arguably the world’s best coffee. No doubt you will want to take some home with you but be aware of customs allowances.

Finding Your Way to Colombia Vacation Apartments

The primary airport in Colombia is the El Dorado International Airport in Bogota. The airport is a relatively modern structure and hosts a number of local, regional and international airlines. There are relatively frequent commercial flights to North America. The closest U.S. city is Miami which is a three- to four-hour flight away. New York City is four to five hours away by plane and Los Angeles is eight to nine hours away by plane. For travelers from Europe, there are regularly scheduled commercial flights from both Paris and Madrid. People traveling from other parts of the world can route via any of these hubs or major cities in South America, such as Sao Paolo or Buenos Aires. El Dorado’s central location in the region makes it one of the busiest airports in South America in terms of transporting both passengers and cargo. If you are traveling to another destination in Colombia, it is best to fly. While there are good road links, traveling times can be long because of the many mountain passes that need to be navigated.

Cartagena Vacation Rentals in Colombia

Cartagena is one of Colombia’s most popular tourist destinations. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its strong cultural traditions, beautiful beaches and diverse range of historic architecture. There are numerous cultural festivals that take place each year that attract many visitors. In the summertime, people flock to the beaches and enjoy the vibrant nightlife that the city is known for. If you enjoy photography and old architecture, you will enjoy the many different architectural styles exhibited in Cartagena. The buildings make excellent photo subjects. It is a city where there is plenty to see and do but you can just as easily spend your days relaxing on the beach and simply watching the passing crowds.
