  • Gorgeous Beachfront Estate and Wonderful Owners

"After having just stayed here, my husband and I have already booked our next trip! There are many great things to say about this rental. First, the house is HUGE! Although the owners do live in the house, we did not feel as though we were just renting a room. Upon arriving, we were greeted and welcomed to the property. I see having the owners on-site as an advantage. This was our first trip to this part of Ecuador and having people familiar with the area was a huge help! Having done A LOT of research on the sights we wanted to see, we saw some of the places we researched but visited more of the places that Bruce and Kim told us about. I'm very thankful for their knowledge of the area and willingness to help in the planning of our excursions. They arranged taxis for us when needed, which was especially nice for someone who does not speak Spanish and is not familiar with the area. Second, THE VIEW IS AMAZING! The house is better than described. It sits right on the ocean and offers a great view of the sunset. We relaxed in the hammocks on the veranda and lounged in chairs on the grass. This house is built for relaxation! Our room also offered a lot of space. The bed was very comfortable and it was great to fall asleep to the ocean at night. Our room had a set of double doors to a balcony that overlooked the ocean. It is a beautiful house with great views from every angle -- a must see! Also, it was very quiet and tranquil. We did not hear any parties going on or traffic from the road. Third, the house is located in a great location for sightseeing. After relaxing for a few days, we went into Montanita and had a great time walking around, trying different restaurants, and talking to the locals. Note: I do not speak Spanish and was kind of nervous coming to a Spanish-speaking country without knowing language. However, this was not a problem. The locals are very nice and were patient with my less than stellar Spanish. By the end of the trip, I felt like I had learned enough to get by. After our wonderful experience with renting this property and its great location, my husband and I cannot wait to come back!"

  • Back again to Bob and Rox's

"After having a fabulous time at Bob and Rox's place ( lower suite) for a month in 2014 , we returned for another stay from Jan 3rd to Feb 6th this year. Once again, Bob and Rox proved to be the most hospitable of hosts , having found the perfect balance of respecting their guests' privacy while , at the same time, happily offering much appreciated assistance when needed! This year Bob and Rox , along with their housekeeper Agrapina , went well above and beyond the norm when my husband unexpectedly took ill. They arranged for excellent pharmacy and medical attention for my husband at the local hospital and they assisted with language services as well as regular visits there to ensure that everything was O.K. It is important to note the location of two pharmacies as well as an E.R./hospital facility right across the street from Oasis del Mar. It is the only hospital along this whole stretch of Coast. In terms of accessibility, my husband is awaiting a knee replacement so we choose the lower suite which does not involve the several steps that the upper suite does.We would continue to rave about this particular location and these particular hosts but we fear that this would lead to even more bookings and a very quick "no vacancy" message ! So if the rating scale allowed it, Bob and Rox would receive 110% from us."

  • Exceptional hosts !!!!

"You are still debating where to stay ?? Stop your research , here is where you want to spend an unforgettable time in Ecuador. Beautiful view of the ocean, very clean place, fresh fruits for breakfast every morning with fresh pastries and eggs on top of it if you wish. The remarkable aspect of this villa is the hosts !!! Marsha and Shell !!!! The best ever. They sure go beyong your expectations, soooo generous of their time . Using their van they take their guests to this restaurant on the beach, propose day trip, and more and more. They also gave us the opportunity to meet people by inviting them over which turned out to be very pleasant and every one did have a good time. Thanks for those beautiful souvenirs we brought back with us. Without you it would not have been the same. No wonder why you are NO 1 in Ecuador !!! You deserve way more than a 5 stars. We definitly highly recommand this place, do not hesitate."

  • Rural tranquillity close enough to Quito

"We just spent six weeks based here, making a number of excursions to lodges and parks with the Villa Jardín as our base, and the plan worked perfectly. After hiking, trails, heat, bugs, inconvenience etc. it was wonderful to come back to the comfort and conveniences of our temporary home. The property and the house totally live up to expectations: the garden is lovely, and the house both beautiful and fully equipped. Vicky is close by, in the other house on the property, always available with help and advice, but always respecting our privacy too. The dogs are all sweeties (just don't let them accompany you if you walk through the village, it causes a maelstrom of barking and squabbling). We didn't rent a car, and found public transit amazingly good and cheap, although crowded and rackety. A ten-minute walk downhill to the bus stop, then a half-hour ride into Quito (27 cents) where you can walk up to the old city, or connect with the north-south bus routes (flat rate 25 cents) that take you at least close to almost everything. The location of the house is spectacular, too, with amazing views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. An excellent choice, and would definitely recommend to friends."
