  • Our Coogee family vacation

"My wife and I and our three grown kids were very lucky to find this wonderful home overlooking the ocean in Coogee Beach, Sydney. We were coming from Pennsylvania, USA to pick up our daughter who had just finished a semester of study abroad at UNSW. The Coogee house was our home away from home for the next week and it was perfect! Close enough to the city center to make frequent site seeing trips to the Opera House, Harbor Bridge, The Rocks, Darling Harbor, etc., but far enough away to feel "away from it all". The beach walk from Coogee to Bondi was simply spectacular. We saw whales from the front porch, and we never tired of simply looking out over the water and watching the waves break on the Wedding Cake Rocks. We really wanted for nothing, and our entire stay in Coogee was just perfect. The owner was especially helpful, and we couldn't thank her enough for helping us store some items when we flew up to Cairns to motorhome around Queensland for over a week. I hope to get back to Australia some day, and I would love to go back to the Coogee House."

  • Heaven on a stick

"As soon as you walk in through to the courtyard you feel the outside world drip away. It's an amazingly simple courtyard but gives such a feeling of serenity, Ahh the serenity. A walk around to the outdoor entertaining area equipped with BBQ, Pool and Harbor views and outdoor seating and you wonder what happened to Sydney. Into the house to find a chefs kitchen and a loungeroom with a view better than any postcard. We didn't turn on the television during daylight hours just sat on the big sofas and watched the stories of the best harbor in the world unfold, when we hadn't walked the 5 min to Balmoral Beach to swim or try the many different eateries and coffee shops. We had 2 families of three staying together for the week and I have to say it was the most relaxing week away I have spent in a long long time. The house has so many private areas to escape form each other or to be together. The kids area is like a secret cave for them with TV's and games to keep busy little minds, well, Busy!. The main bedroom has a stunning view of the harbor from the bed and the ante room and the dressing room attached to this area make you feel like you're someone very very special. All of this so close to the excitement of Sydney and to be able to find a peaceful pocket at the end of the day was such a treat. We would thoroughly recommend this house to anyone and we se so glad we got the chance to be able to experience it."

  • Incredible pied-a-terre AND incredible location

"I can't believe how fortunate I was to find this studio apartment. I was in a rush to find and book a place, I found this place, decided it "looked good", didn't look any further and booked it. What a delight it was/is. The host/owners: Lyn and Giacomo, live in the house on another part of the property. They are wonderful, generous hosts who are happy to share tips and suggestions that practically ensure a wonderful stay in Sydney. I can't say that you'll get to sample a pizza fresh from their wood-fired pizza oven, but I did and was grateful for it. Delicious. So, the apartment itself: modern, fully-fitted space perfect for one or two people. Full kitchen, snazzy bathroom, excellent WIFI, which I used daily (and a TV which I did not), an operable glass wall that opens up to a balcony overlooking the beautiful garden AND the harbor and CBD beyond. It's very special. Location: Again, how fortunate I was (and you will be, too). The apartment is a 10 minute walk to the East Balmain ferry wharf. The ferry connects directly to the main ferry terminal (Circular Quay), which accesses all the trains and buses. If you walk the opposite direction on Darling Street, you come upon a variety of very nice shops, restaurants, grocery markets, and just about anything you want or need. Again, very convenient, and a pleasant surprise for me. I don't often write lengthy reviews (if I do at all) of places I've rented, but Giacomo's and Lyn's place is unique and so are they. And I do find these reviews extremely helpful, so would like to contribute to others' efforts to find a great place to stay in Sydney. I had a wonderful time there and bet you will too."

  • Great location in a lively neighbourhood!

"Great location in a lively neighbourhood! We stayed at Top of the Town for nine nights in September. The location is excellent with public transportation via bus or train within close walking distance--just a few subway stations to CBD. There are a variety of shops on the street, including the large Coles grocery store which has an abundance of choice. The neighbourhood is alive with young people and lots of different bars and restaurants from which to choose. The apartment is located in a very secure building with a concierge on-site. There is a small gym and pool available. The unit itself is not large but well arranged with comfortable furnishings, including a sofabed. There is a large TV monitor with plenty of channels to select. The wifi is reliable and fast. The kitchen equipment is in good working order and there is sufficient kitchenware for eating in and preparing simple meals. There are plenty of condiments and sundry supplies which are very welcomed when travelling, along with the ensuite laundry facilities. The washroom has a generous shower and good water pressure. The bedroom is a good size, with plenty of storage and good lighting for reading. Having an accordion door allows guests to close off the bedroom and still continue to enjoy the living room space. Our hosts, Toni and Stephen, were very prompt in responding to our reservation request, as well as in providing an excellent information package regarding the unit, instructions for the various equipment, and suggestions for attractions and local restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the apartment to others looking for a comfortable accommodation in a very central location. Of note is that there was ongoing construction nearby. Best to check with the hosts regarding the status of current construction during work hours if that is a concern."
