Overview of Viti Levu Vacation Rentals

Seasons to Visit Viti Levu Vacation Rentals

Fiji has a warm tropical climate with little seasonal variation. The main differentiating factor is rain. Short storms occur throughout the summer season which runs from October to May. Occasionally intense tropical storms blow through the region and these tend to occur towards the end of the season, although somewhat infrequently. Summer days are hot and humid and the rain showers, while they happen with regularity, are relatively short-lived. The winter season is actually the high tourist season as days are warm and rain is less likely. Peak season occurs during the months of June and July.

Things to Do near Viti Levu Beach Resorts

Fiji has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. On Viti Levu, the most well known beach spot is Natadolo Beach. Part of the attraction of this beach is that it is quite isolated. It’s a great place for windsurfing, swimming, snorkeling or body surfing, although you do need to be conscious of the currents which can be strong.

Tavuni Hill Fort is an ancient Tongan fort that has in recent years been restored. The fort sits high up on a limestone ridge overlooking the Sigatoka River below. Guided tours are available which provide some interesting insights into the fort’s history.

The Pacific Harbour is an up-market development 49 kilometers west of Suva. Here, there are numerous entertainment and activity options. These range from great restaurants and shopping facilities to glass-bottomed boat excursions. Sailing and windsurfing are also popular pastimes. When traveling east from Pacific Harbour, stop in at the Fijian Cultural Center and Marketplace. Here you can purchase traditional handcrafts and view a traditional Fijian village lifestyle.

If you are looking for a place to enjoy a lunch picnic then visit the Garden of the Sleeping Giant which can be found approximately 10 kilometers from the Nadi Airport. This beautiful tropical garden is open for picnics and has an impressive collection of colorful orchids.

The Sabeto Mountain near Nadi offers some challenging mountain biking trails. The terrain is quite rugged and trails include some fast single track and steep Jeep track climbs. Other adrenalin type adventures include the jet boat excursions offered on the Nadi River.

Viti Levu Accommodation Options

Vacation rentals on Fiji offer an affordable accommodation alternative. Choose from compact single-bedroom apartments or spacious villas and beachfront homes. Most are tastefully furnished with a host of modern appliances and conveniences.

Getting to and Around Viti Levu

There are two airports on Viti Levu. The Nadi International airport is located just 9 kilometers north of Nadi’s city center and the main gateway for international travelers into Fiji and the South Pacific region. The airport hosts airlines from around the world. The most frequent schedules run between New Zealand, Australia and South East Asia. For travelers from North America or Europe, you may need to route via one of these destinations before traveling on to Fiji. The Nausori international Airport is located 23 kilometers from Suva, the capital of Fiji. The airport is used primarily for regional and domestic flights and is the base for Fiji’s national carrier. Once on Viti Levu, it is relatively easy to get around. The public transport network is quite extensive and inexpensive. It consists of buses that link the major cities, tourist sites and airports. If you’d like to explore independently, you can hire a car or scooter to get around. For the more energetic traveler, there are also bicycles available for hire. This a great option for exploring as most of the roads around the coast are relatively flat and easy to navigate.
