Bora Bora has a warm tropical climate. There is little variation in the actual temperatures year-round. Rather what differentiates the seasons is the rainfall pattern. In the wet season, the island receives three-quarters of their annual rainfall. This season extends from November through to April. Days are hot and muggy, and storms are frequent and often unpredictable. This is generally considered to be the low season for tourism. However, because of the weather and the lower volumes of tourists, you can often pick up good deals on travel packages if you decide to travel then. The more popular tourist season is in the dryer months of May to October. This is actually considered winter although daytime temperatures are often in the high 20s (Centigrade). Rain is rare and you can be guaranteed many sunshine hours. The peak season is during the month of July as this is when many local festivals are held.
Getting to Bora Bora
To get to Bora Bora you will need to travel via the Faaa International Airport on Tahiti. The airport receives regular commercial flights from most North American and European carriers. Often flights will route via hubs such as Los Angeles on the west coast. Once in Tahiti, you can get a quick domestic connection across to Bora Bora. As an alternative means of transport, you can book a space on one of the local ferries that operate between Tahiti and Bora Bora.
