"This was a charming, well appointed condo that was exactly as advertised. The location is beautiful and an easy bike ride or drive to Ketchum and the ski areas. The owner was very helpful through emails and made it an extremely positive experience all around. I would gladly rent this property again or recommend it to family or friends."Guest: Moneypenny Date of Stay: July 2012 Review Submitted: July 10, 2012View listing
"This home is as good as it gets. We have rented various upscale homes for the last decade. This is the only one that has exceeded our expectations on every level. The house is beautifully decorated yet comfortable, and quite large yet cozy. The property is expansive, allowing for true family fun....soccer, whiffle ball, frisbee....you name it. The river setting is truly exquisite...you are steps away from flyfishing or simply siiting on the bank and listening to the river run. All of this with an unbeatable proximity to bikepaths and downtown Ketchum. This property has quelled our interest in ever renting another home in Sun Valley. It doesn't get any better."Guest: Stacy C. Date of Stay: July 2011 Review Submitted: March 15, 2012View listing
"My husband and I stayed at this lovely studio condo for three nights in May. It was wonderful - very well decorated with a contemporary, clean feel. The bed was soooo comfortable and cozy. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances and utensils. The bathroom, although not large, did not feel cramped at all. The complex and grounds are well cared for and conveniently there is a bus stop for the bus that goes into Ketchum across from the condo. If you love biking, (which we do) the Sun Valley/Ketchum area abounds with paved bike trails which are again, right outside the door. And Lori was incredibly helpful with any questions we had prior our arrival. All in all a perfectly relaxing long-weekend getaway!"Guest: Kate F. "We loved the house, lots of room for kids, grand-kids and adults. There is a nice little fishing pond in the backyard that kept all ages happy. The house has all the things you need for everyday, spices in the cupboard, plastic wrap, plenty of paper products, beach towels, laundry soap etc. Very comfy beds with nice comforters. Master suite has a big sitting area with a flat screen, so if you need to get away from the others you can. WiFi in the house too. There are also some bikes at the house to use."Guest: Tukie Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 22, 2014View listing
Sun Valley Area Travel Tips
Sun Valley, Idaho for Fun in the Sun and Snow
Sun Valley, in Blaine County, Idaho, is known as the "Grand Dame" of ski resorts. The name Sun Valley is used to describe the resort itself and the region generally--the valley area south of Hailey and the city of Ketchum. To get to Sun Valley travel could not be easier. Just 2.5 hours drive through scenic vistas from the major airport at Boise, the area is also served by Friedman Memorial Airport which is less than 15 miles away. By road, the Sun Valley is easily accessible from Interstate 85 and State Highway 75 running through the region. Famous for its great ski conditions, the weather goes from the 20s Fahrenheit in winter to the high 60s Fahrenheit in summer.
Find the Perfect Snow in Sun Valley, Idaho
With over 250 days of sun per year, you may believe that it is not an ideal ski location but you would be wrong. The days may be glorious and sunny but the nights bring the snow and each morning, the snow conditions are fabulous. More advanced skiers head to Bald Mountain, affectionately known as "Baldy," for its challenging conditions. It has a variety of constant-pitch terrain of assorted difficulty levels, a 3,400-foot (1,036 m) vertical drop and little wind. Among serious skiers, Baldy is reputed to be the best mountain in the world. Beginners and intermediate skiers will find the treeless Dollar Mountain perfect for developing their skills and learning. With Sun Valley vacation rentals available close to both mountains, visitors will find the perfect property for their individual needs.
For winter visitors who enjoy fishing, there is an opportunity to try the challenges of ice fishing at several rivers and lakes.
Don’t Miss the Spectacular Sun in Sun Valley’s Summer
When the snow melts and the temperatures climb, Sun Valley is rapidly gaining popularity as an ideal outdoor location for family fun. The Sawtooth National Forest has a variety of recreational activities to suit everyone. Much of the forest is primitive and undeveloped wilderness, great for exploring and getting back to nature. It is also an archeological area with almost 1,500 heritage sites to discover. It offers a great opportunity to learn about the area and its archeology, and understand the importance of the natural environment. The area has a wealth of hiking and backpacking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, trail biking, and both lake and river fishing.
There is no better way to get a feel for how the original settlers and inhabitants explored the area than on horseback. The area has some spectacular riding trails, one of the best of which is Cold Canyon. It is a scenic ride, best seen in late summer and early fall when the fall colors are in their prime. Many of these trails are closed to motorized vehicles, making for safe, scenic, peaceful rides.
The fishing season starts in May, usually on Memorial Day, and licenses can be obtained at local stores. The main fishing areas include Big Wood River, the North and Mile Fork of the Boise River, and part of the Payette River. Species in abundance in the rivers include several varieties of trout, such as rainbow, golden, brook and cutthroat. The best early season fishing is at the Salmon River Drainage.
