  • Lovely condo in Ketchum!

"We had a wonderful stay here! The condo was very clean, cozy and a great home base to walk around Ketchum. Leslie was very responsive and helpful leading up to our stay and and Mary was so helpful upon our arrival and made us feel very welcome - and even helped carry our bags! She was in contact with us during our stay with tips and would definitely helped us out further if we needed anything. We would definitely stay here again if we were to return. I recommend Bigwood Bread in downtown Ketchum - great breakfast and chocolate chip cookies - we walked there from the condo a few mornings!"

  • Fine Accommodations, Great Mountain & Town

"A very inviting (light and clean) mountain décor in what seemed to be a recently painted and undated unit. I especially liked the framed historic Sun Valley area map, the hewn-log bed frame supporting a very comfortable mattress, the big screen TV, and the Sun Valley decorative ski for added emphasis. Perfect, every feature was ‘as advertised’. Condo is located in what appeared as a newer Sun Valley area, the heated underground parking was nice in the winter, convenient elevator, and as I quickly learned the free Sun Valley bus service is amazing & it stops right in front of this building... we could access restaurants in downtown Ketchum, events at the Sun Valley Lodge, and it even took us to within 1 block of two different private residences. The owner’s personal attention to detail is obvious from cleanliness to thoughtful items that were available for our convenience; even simple things like scotch tape, magazines, and a screwdriver. I do plan to stay in this Elkhorn unit again. Plus, on a personal note, I’ve spent a busy Christmas in Beaver Creek CO, and now one in Sun Valley ID. There really are no lift lines in Sun Valley!"

  • Sun Valley escape

"We got away for a few days and this condominium was a perfect place to land after traveling through the Sawtooth Mountains. Such a perfect time of year. The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, dishes and pretty much everything you would need. Dinner on the deck overlooking the 8th Fairway was so pleasant, especially with the changing colors. The condo has been remodeled and is very light and bright, and impeccable in every way. Really loved the bed!"

  • Great place!

"Our family headed to Dollar Mountain for a USASA Ski/Snowboarding event to watch our kids compete. This condo is literally a 45 second walk from the condo to Dollar Mountain Lodge. We were able to come back to the condo for lunch and snacks in between heats which saved our family of five money. The condo was very comfortable. Our two younger boys loved the twin beds up in the loft and my teenage son loved having the queen bed all to himself. We enjoyed the card games (Phase 10 and Uno specifically) and the kids each took a turn with the classic game of Blockhead. The condo was well stocked; the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, the bathrooms were well stocked, and even laundry soap and dishwasher detergent was provided."

Sun Valley Area Travel Tips

Sun Valley, Idaho for Fun in the Sun and Snow

Sun Valley, in Blaine County, Idaho, is known as the "Grand Dame" of ski resorts. The name Sun Valley is used to describe the resort itself and the region generally--the valley area south of Hailey and the city of Ketchum. To get to Sun Valley travel could not be easier. Just 2.5 hours drive through scenic vistas from the major airport at Boise, the area is also served by Friedman Memorial Airport which is less than 15 miles away. By road, the Sun Valley is easily accessible from Interstate 85 and State Highway 75 running through the region. Famous for its great ski conditions, the weather goes from the 20s Fahrenheit in winter to the high 60s Fahrenheit in summer.

Find the Perfect Snow in Sun Valley, Idaho

With over 250 days of sun per year, you may believe that it is not an ideal ski location but you would be wrong. The days may be glorious and sunny but the nights bring the snow and each morning, the snow conditions are fabulous. More advanced skiers head to Bald Mountain, affectionately known as "Baldy," for its challenging conditions. It has a variety of constant-pitch terrain of assorted difficulty levels, a 3,400-foot (1,036 m) vertical drop and little wind. Among serious skiers, Baldy is reputed to be the best mountain in the world. Beginners and intermediate skiers will find the treeless Dollar Mountain perfect for developing their skills and learning. With Sun Valley vacation rentals available close to both mountains, visitors will find the perfect property for their individual needs.

For winter visitors who enjoy fishing, there is an opportunity to try the challenges of ice fishing at several rivers and lakes.

Don’t Miss the Spectacular Sun in Sun Valley’s Summer

When the snow melts and the temperatures climb, Sun Valley is rapidly gaining popularity as an ideal outdoor location for family fun. The Sawtooth National Forest has a variety of recreational activities to suit everyone. Much of the forest is primitive and undeveloped wilderness, great for exploring and getting back to nature. It is also an archeological area with almost 1,500 heritage sites to discover. It offers a great opportunity to learn about the area and its archeology, and understand the importance of the natural environment. The area has a wealth of hiking and backpacking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, trail biking, and both lake and river fishing.

There is no better way to get a feel for how the original settlers and inhabitants explored the area than on horseback. The area has some spectacular riding trails, one of the best of which is Cold Canyon. It is a scenic ride, best seen in late summer and early fall when the fall colors are in their prime. Many of these trails are closed to motorized vehicles, making for safe, scenic, peaceful rides.

The fishing season starts in May, usually on Memorial Day, and licenses can be obtained at local stores. The main fishing areas include Big Wood River, the North and Mile Fork of the Boise River, and part of the Payette River. Species in abundance in the rivers include several varieties of trout, such as rainbow, golden, brook and cutthroat. The best early season fishing is at the Salmon River Drainage.
