  • Exactly what was needed!

"Great condo, great owners. My wife and I really needed a nice weekend away and this place fit the bill. Nicely furnished, clean, comfortable bed, and at the end of the day, we loved hitting the hottub. We enjoyed walking in to town for dinner/drinks as needed, as well as biking around town/along the nearby trails and even fishing the Big Wood and (after a short drive) Silver Creek. We were even impressed by having some of the little things we didn't initially think about (like coffee and butter.)"

  • Best Place to Stay in Sun Valley/Ketchum

"i have stayed here many times over the last six years. It is truly a retreat. The home itself is charming, not the large granite tiled monstrosities that litter Ketchum. It has a terrific yard and patio that are lovely and quiet in the summer and a large dining table to gather around near the fireplace in the winter. We have enjoyed the home with groups of all sizes, from 4 adults to several families. You can rent the cottage across the patio to expand the accommodation. From this property, we enjoy the alpenglow on the mountains, fish the wood river, ride the extensive paved bike trail, access the mountain trails for hiking and mountain biking, x-country ski, ride the chairlifts at the ski resort, and then walk to town for dinner, drinks and shopping! All of this without ever getting into the car. The owner is wonderfully accommodating. When one member of our party got a flat tire on a Sunday, not only did the owner arrange for another night so that the tire could be repaired, she even recommended where to go for the best service on the repair! She is a dog lover and will let your fuzzy kids stay with you at this property. One of the only, and certainly the best, options for those traveling with their canine companions."

  • Amazing

"Unbelievable villa in a can't beat location. The place is huge with views of the river and the mountain from the living room, and it is walking distance to the lifts with great amenities throughout the house. The three-story layout makes it perfect for any size group, big or small and it perfectly accommodated our large group. Will definitely go back and stay as I can't think of a better house or location to stay at."

  • Wonderful Spring Break Location

"The lodging could not have been better suited for our family of five. Three well equipped bedrooms, bathrooms and a kitchen that was fit for a true chef. The unit is very close proximity to River Run and the hot tub, on the bottom deck, was the perfect place to close out the day. Our boys loved throwing their fly rods in the creek behind the property too. Mountain Lifestyles does an excellent job of managing the property. This unit has a decorators touch and was the perfect place to call home for our break. We look forward to visiting again in the summer!"

Sun Valley Area Travel Tips

Sun Valley, Idaho for Fun in the Sun and Snow

Sun Valley, in Blaine County, Idaho, is known as the "Grand Dame" of ski resorts. The name Sun Valley is used to describe the resort itself and the region generally--the valley area south of Hailey and the city of Ketchum. To get to Sun Valley travel could not be easier. Just 2.5 hours drive through scenic vistas from the major airport at Boise, the area is also served by Friedman Memorial Airport which is less than 15 miles away. By road, the Sun Valley is easily accessible from Interstate 85 and State Highway 75 running through the region. Famous for its great ski conditions, the weather goes from the 20s Fahrenheit in winter to the high 60s Fahrenheit in summer.

Find the Perfect Snow in Sun Valley, Idaho

With over 250 days of sun per year, you may believe that it is not an ideal ski location but you would be wrong. The days may be glorious and sunny but the nights bring the snow and each morning, the snow conditions are fabulous. More advanced skiers head to Bald Mountain, affectionately known as "Baldy," for its challenging conditions. It has a variety of constant-pitch terrain of assorted difficulty levels, a 3,400-foot (1,036 m) vertical drop and little wind. Among serious skiers, Baldy is reputed to be the best mountain in the world. Beginners and intermediate skiers will find the treeless Dollar Mountain perfect for developing their skills and learning. With Sun Valley vacation rentals available close to both mountains, visitors will find the perfect property for their individual needs.

For winter visitors who enjoy fishing, there is an opportunity to try the challenges of ice fishing at several rivers and lakes.

Don’t Miss the Spectacular Sun in Sun Valley’s Summer

When the snow melts and the temperatures climb, Sun Valley is rapidly gaining popularity as an ideal outdoor location for family fun. The Sawtooth National Forest has a variety of recreational activities to suit everyone. Much of the forest is primitive and undeveloped wilderness, great for exploring and getting back to nature. It is also an archeological area with almost 1,500 heritage sites to discover. It offers a great opportunity to learn about the area and its archeology, and understand the importance of the natural environment. The area has a wealth of hiking and backpacking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, trail biking, and both lake and river fishing.

There is no better way to get a feel for how the original settlers and inhabitants explored the area than on horseback. The area has some spectacular riding trails, one of the best of which is Cold Canyon. It is a scenic ride, best seen in late summer and early fall when the fall colors are in their prime. Many of these trails are closed to motorized vehicles, making for safe, scenic, peaceful rides.

The fishing season starts in May, usually on Memorial Day, and licenses can be obtained at local stores. The main fishing areas include Big Wood River, the North and Mile Fork of the Boise River, and part of the Payette River. Species in abundance in the rivers include several varieties of trout, such as rainbow, golden, brook and cutthroat. The best early season fishing is at the Salmon River Drainage.
