  • Last minute getaway

"We had a week come up where we wanted to get away. The owners were very helpful and got us in at the last minute. The place was perfect for us. We took our bikes and were able to go from one end of the island to the other with no issues. We truly love Dauphin Island."

  • Outstanding Family Get-a-way

"We had such a fabulous time staying at the "Porches" on Dauphin Island. It was the perfect venue for our family which includes 3 couples and 2 babies. There were a ton of toys, water paraphernalia, and everything that you can think of to make us feel comfortable. I especially liked all the towels and the fact that beach towels were provided. We were flying in so dragging all this "stuff" with us can be a pain, but the house included everything. It was such a pleasure to spend quality time with our children in this hectic world that we live in. There's only peace and quiet on this island and plenty of it, with an outstanding beach. I can't really say enough about the property as my husband and I have travelled extensively and have rented houses on several occasions but I was in awe at how it was outfitted, especially the kitchen--every tool that you can possibly use, and plenty of dishes and flatware. The porches themselves were awesome. We especially like the screened-in porch that allowed to have the babies out there without constantly fearful that they would fall between the railings. The owners were most accommodating, and very helpful in finding and returning to us something that we inadvertently left behind. I'm sure that we will be returning and I will not hesitate in recommending this property. Enjoy."

  • We Found Paradise On Earth

"This was our first time to vacation on Dauphin Island and all of us agree that this was the BEST VACATION EVER!! This condo was absolutely stunning and the sweet owners thought of everything. No matter what the ages are of your family members, this condo has so many ameneties and extras that you will be well set up for your vacation. This condo was clean and the furnishings were so comfortable. The ocean front balcony is set up with perfect furnishings that we didn't want to go inside even when it was bedtime. How relaxing and peaceful the island is and this condo fits into that atmosphere perfectly. It is very spacious with plenty of room for a large family. Dauphin Island is truly Paradise on Earth and we fell in love with the peace, tranquility and friendliness of this special place. The seafood at JT's was so good. I had one of the best Crab Cake sandwiches that I have ever had there. The Lighthouse Bakery had the best cinnamon rolls and cream cheese danishes and the staff was so friendly. We met several locals and found everyone we came in contact with to be so gracious and kind. The Sea Lab/Estrarium and Fort Gaines was a delight and our 9 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed both. We have decided that Dauphin Island and our vacation destination from now on and this condo is the only place we want to stay while there. The hot tub, indoor heated pool, outdoor pool, tennis court and exercise facility are fantastic and allow you to have a wonderful time even if the weather is not cooperating. Our daughter loved swimming in the beautiful water of the gulf with fish swimming and jumping out of the water all around her. She had plenty of white sand to create sand castles or any other design she wanted. I cannot say enough good things about this condo or Dauphin Island. Thank you so much Susan for your thoughtfulness in the furnishings and extras at this wonderful home away from home. It was such a pleasure meeting you and your husband!! We cannot wait until next year and we want to stay for two weeks because one week just isn't enough when you find Paradise!!"

  • AWESOME VACATION!!!

"This home was absolutely perfect!! We have rented vacations homes in the past, that upon arrival they look nothing like the pictures. This home however is exactly what you see in the pictures. Great location and the perfect place to relax and take life easy. I really want to return one day, and would not even consider a different rental."

You'll see four key habitats of coastal Alabama: Northern Gulf of Mexico, Mobile-Tensaw River Delta, Barrier Islands and Mobile Bay. Throughout the lab's 10,000 square feet are the Exhibit Hall and the Living Marsh Boardwalk you'll learn about plants, animals and natural resources. There are variety of interactive displays for hands-on fun, making this an excellent attraction for families.

Depending on when you're visiting, you can see different creatures of flight during spring or fall migration. Since bird watching is so popular, you're bound to find locals who love the hobby and will be happy to share their favorite spots and avian knowledge.

- Indian Mound Park: One great place to go bird watching is Indian Mound Park, also known as Shell Mound Park, which is a bird refuge on the island's north shore. Settle in to see what animals are flying around or explore the different plant species that make for a lovely setting. The site has a rich history too because of the presence of prehistoic Indian shell middens - mounds of discarded oyster shells. The park has been part of the National Register of Historic Places since 1973.
