"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tit 4 Tat in the Rookery. We were looking for a stand-alone house (not a high-rise) in a quiet area, and this was perfect (this is a duplex). We are a family of 5 (three teens), and the accommodations were excellent. The unit was very clean, spacious, had every possible thing needed in the kitchen, nice decor, and comfortable beds. We could have used a few more towels (teen girls with long hair use lots of towels!), but it was easy enough to do laundry. The addition of the island in the kitchen was very welcome for extra counter space (although the brakes on the wheels didn't seem to work, so it moved too much). The screened porch was wonderful, as the no-see-ums were super plentiful. Some of us had worse allergic reactions to the bites than others. The development does back into a swampy natural area, so bugs are to be expected, but you really couldn't enjoy much time outside. We used the grill by the pool area for dinner once, but the bugs prevented us from using the picnic tables to eat. Besides the bugs, we saw other wildlife: a 3 to 4 foot alligator resides in the pond next to the pool and tennis court, but bothered no one, and created quite a lot of interest. I would say it's time to relocate this guy/gal, as it's probably getting too used to people. We also saw 3 snakes, a turtle, frogs, and lizards. Now these didn't bother us in the least, and our kids were very interested in the wildlife, but if you prefer not to be that up close and personal with the wildlife, The Rookery might not be for you! The pool and tennis court were well-maintained, and we spent a good deal of time at the pool. The beach is just across the street within 10 to 15 minutes walking distance, but we drove in order to take our beach "stuff". I can't say it was inconvenient at all. We did a lot of fishing right from the beach, and enjoyed several delicious fresh fish fries! There are a couple pizza places and a small well-stocked market and restaurant close by. With teens, we needed to spend time in town as well, and it was only a pleasant 20 minute drive to town. This was our first trip to Gulf Shores, and we found the Fort Morgan area to be perfect for us. We would definitely stay here again. Also, the property manager was very helpful and friendly!"
