"My husband and I had a great week at the polecat pad, we loved the lil room, had everything we needed. The boathouse was great to keep our boat, the pier was a quite place where we spent most of our time, fishing and swimming! We loved the area, we even got an invitation from neighbors to hang out around a campfire. Loved the place, and Mrs. Libby was a blessing to work with, we can not wait to go again! The trip to town for groceries was only a short distance, that gave us more time to spend enjoying our cabin. While in our room we were very comfortable, the bed was very comfortable! The atmosphere in the lil cabin was very comfy! I can't think of one thing that I would have changed."Guest: Mac attack Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 22, 2014View listing
"This is my THIRD time staying at this location. I could not imagine there being a better place to stay at on the lake for the price! These are the 7 things I would recommend: 1) BRING THE FAMILY OR FRIENDS... it's always the people that make the trip. We brought a group of friends, and the house living room was a perfect fit for 6 of us (plus an additional 2 guest we invited over as well). We watched football, cooked on the grill. I slept great in the side bedroom, and a couple of us on the couches, and there is also a blow up bed with plenty of room to place it. 2) WALK DOWN TO THE WATER... the walk down to the water is so pleasant and nice (it's shaded!). There was a path leading down to the lake and a fire pit just at the edge of the water. We had hay bails to sit on, and actually backed up a truck and used the tailgate as well. We cooked smores at night, which I would suggest as well. 3) USE THE CANOE (especially in the morning or at dusk)... GET OUT ON THE WATER! (if you get a boat)... the lake is absolutely beautiful... and the honeycomb slue where the house is located is right in the middle of it all, there is cliff jumping for the adventurous, the honeycomb inlet is perfect for skiing and wakeboarding and kneeboarding (the water is much calmer than the open lake). 4) BRING SOMETHING TO COOKOUT... the open kitchen/living room floor plan was perfect for cooking for and serving to a big group. There was a propane and charcoal grill, as well as some items we cooked in the oven... We cooked a big breakfast one morning, and dinner one night! 5) BRING THE GIRLS... Girls have higher standards than us guys. The girls that came with us were especially satisfied with the set up. Everyone's expectations were satisfied... I can't speak highly enough about the main room... high ceilings, well kept, great fun decor, exceptionally comfortable couches, etc. 6) BREAK OUT A BOARD GAME... We broke out the poker chips and played Texas Holdem (guys and girls) late into the night. The place has a perfect table for playing games like this. We sat six at the table (bringing in 2 extra chairs from outside). there were also some board games at the house that allowed for some additional options. 7) GO GRAB THE SUNDAY BRUNCH AT THE GUNTERSVILLE STATE LODGE... you're not going to want to miss the views from the front patio, and the buffet has a great selection of food. Perfect place for a perfect weekend! Robert"Guest: Robert T. Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 22, 2014View listing
"This was such a wonderful and relaxing getaway for us!! The house was very nice and the views from the porch were awesome. We especially loved the trees in the front of the house. The neighbors were close by but very friendly. I'd love to stay here again. It is close, but not too close, to town. Great food in town! Loved it!!"Guest: Anonymous Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: September 6, 2014View listing
"Our extended family of 16+ stayed at this spacious house for a family get-away--some traveling from Columbia, S.C., Atlanta area and NW Georgia...grandparents, nieces, nephews, cousins...and we had a blast! The view of the mountains to the right and lake everywhere else was breathtaking and the pool was the perfect "attraction" for the children and adults! Sam was very responsive if we had a need or questions, and was only a phone call away. We enjoyed the local eateries, (Top of the River is less than a mile away!) but spent most of our time in the well-equipped kitchen and eating out on the deck (with seating for everyone) overlooking the pool and lake. The kids loved the bunk alcove and there was plenty of space for air mattresses. We love Lake Guntersville and really enjoyed our time together building great family memories in this beautiful house."Guest: Fishing family Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: June 25, 2014View listing

Eating Gator for Lunch in Guntersville
Alabama and most of the southeastern tip of the United States are well known for their alligators. Alabama is most particularly known for their dishes made from gator. If you are feeling adventurous, there are a couple of places where you might consider dining. Bistro La Lina is known for the Southwestern menu they provide and even more so for the Gator Wrap lunch or dinner plate. If you are wary of gator, the Big Mammou is made of chicken with a blend of andouille sausage, garlic, and green onion over a bed of fettuccine.
