"My husband and I, along with our daughters and sons-in-law, just spent a week at the Bearfoot Lodge. We found the house and lake to be very relaxing. The boat was a great addition, giving us a chance to see the lake and swim in different places. My son in law enjoyed taking the boat out to fish each day, but only caught one small fish.
This house is at the back of a small cove on the lake. The cove is lined with houses and docks. To see the main part of the lake, you must go down to the dock or out on the boat. When we arrived on July 4, there were people out at almost every dock and there were many boats and jet skis out on the lake. By Sunday evening, we had the cove and the lake to ourselves, and it stayed that way through the week. It was nice taking the canoe out early in the morning to enjoy the quiet of the lake.
Getting the boat from the marina was very easy, as was using the gas link device in the basement to refuel. My daughters were somewhat disappointed that no tubing or skiing was allowed behind the boat, but this was clearly stated in the rules Don emailed to us.
The house is nice and the pictures are accurate. The day we arrived, the air conditioning stopped working. I texted Andy, who was managing the rental for the summer, and he responded immediately and had someone out to look at it. Due to the holiday weekend, the AC could not be repaired until Monday, but Andy checked in with us to make sure we were ok. We really appreciated Andy's attention and quick response.
The house has no internet or cable. We were aware of this before going. It was nice to spend time together as a family and play games, cook, read, and just talk. We also took many naps!! When we wanted to watch the World Cup final (and our hotspot did not work in the house) we went to the Mexican restaurant for dinner. We were not the only ones there watching the game!
This is a nice, quiet, comfortable place to spend time with family. Thank you Don and Andy for being so easy to work with!"
