  • Quiet Relaxing Babymoon

"Scout's Hideaway was perfect size and location for a last minute getaway. The decor is calming and complements the tranquility of the forest. We were mostly alone on the lake, except for the rare boat or jet ski and the handful of deserted swim docks jutting out of the woods. The swim dock was perfect for picnicking with the family. The stairway with multiple landings and chairs halfway was very handy for this 38 week pregnant momma. Cabin was perfect respite for our family of three. The owners were a pleasure to work with from checking availability/price to departure and were always available to answer questions regarding the local area. They were very flexible and seemed to truly care about our stay. Would definitely like to return when the kiddos are a little older."

  • Thanksgiving Weekend

"We had a wonderful long weekend at the lake house :) The property was just the right size for our large family! We truly enjoyed having the room to spread out! We have 4 children under 11, and the house was perfect for keeping them busy (and out of each other's hair from time to time). We spent most of our days cooking, fishing (even though it was truly too cold to catch much), and sitting outside enjoying the view. We spent our evenings around the fire pit - which our kids would argue was their favorite space of all! The owners have thought of everything - even down to the hangers left for you to make "cook" marshmallows. We brought our Westie, too - and he had a BLAST! The first day, however, he did try to take a "short cut" down to the pier. He slipped off the side of the bluff and refused to swim to us as we begged him from the pier to come over. We eventually used the neighbor's pier to walk down closer to him...long story short - he was perfectly fine and had a FANTASTIC trip! I would certainly recommend this house to anyone wanting to visit Smith Lake, and we hope to visit again this summer (with more more little one, due in January, with us next time :)"

  • Very relaxing once settled

"As long as your not pulling a boat the place is great. If your towing a boat or trailor good luck and watch out for the trees. The swimming area was a big hit with my nine year old daughter, I don't think she ever noticed the eighty something steps from the back porch to the water."
