  • Great Stay at the High Horse Lodge!

"We had a wonderful weekend at the HHL! (3 Couples--60+) Harriet and Steve are so helpful with all of the information that they provide for their guests. It was cold and windy, sunny and windy, rainy and windy, and even a wee bit of snow on our first night--but nothing stopped us from enjoying the HHL. We hiked the trails on the property, explored the historic sites, had a picnic lunch, cooked our meals in a fully furnished kitchen (including spices!), relaxed on the porch while enjoying the view, nd snuggled by the fire when it was too cold to be outside. We also visited the goats, hens and new pig addition. The HHL has so much to offer that there is no need to leave if you are looking for a peaceful setting. Many thanks, Harriet and Steve!!!"

  • Great weekend!!!

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawk’s Nest Hideaway! It had everything we were looking for in a mountain getaway. The house itself was open, bright, and clean. We’ve had past experiences renting “log cabins” that were cramped and not insulated. This is not a cabin, but more of a cottage with full-size amenities. No galley kitchen or stacked washer/dryer combo here. This is a real home. Cell service is spotty but you have an emergency phone equipped to call 911 and the wi-fi is super fast. The grounds included a serene pond, inviting fire pit, and a babbling creek. The location was secluded, but with other homes nearby so you don’t feel isolated. The weather during our stay was chilly and rainy, but we watched football beside the gas fireplace (turned on with the flick of a switch) and also relaxed in the hot tub. We explored Mentone, visited waterfalls, and shopped in Fort Payne. We also drove across the GA line for an incredible meal at the Canyon Grill. The mountains of Alabama are just beautiful. Never again will we fight the crowds and traffic in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge!!!"

  • Cozy home on beautiful land

"We very much enjoyed our stay in this cozy house. I wish we could have stayed longer! The home is very clean and EXCELLENTLY maintained. The beds are comfortable. The decor is so well put together and has the personal touches of the owner - which made staying there feel like you were at a home away from home! The front porch has 4 comfortable rocking chairs and a swing. We spent a lot of time rocking on the porch looking at the cows across the street. The horses were so friendly and fun to pet. My daughter loved them! The beautiful town of Mentone is 10 minutes away, so we rode into town for a nice walk around the craft stores. We ate at the Wildflower Cafe - really great food! I couldn't ask for a better, more relaxing place to stay! If you are looking for a place to relax, that has animals and an old-timey feel, and is close to a fun and eclectic town, then this is your place!"

"The satellite in the den would not work most of the weekend. Big football weekend for the guys. However we do recommend this property."
