  • Great home base for exploring the area!

"Laura has done an amazing job with Girdwood Goodnight! No detail was overlooked in creating this cozy, comfortable, clean home away from home. It's located in a residential neighborhood which made a great home base to explore all the area has to offer. While this isn't a bed and breakfast, Laura left us enough goodies to make our own breakfast on our own schedule. We actually preferred that. The weather wasn't cooperative when we were in the area and several of our planned activities were canceled. We emailed Laura and she quickly replied with great rainy day suggestions."

  • Perfect Place for a Writers Retreat!

"Four women, part of a Writers Group, traveled to Seward for a weekend Writers Retreat and we were quite pleased with the beautiful, comfortable, peaceful house we found - this is a great place, with plenty of space for sleeping, writing (the dining room table was busy!) and working both together and separately. We were able to really focus and get lots of work done on our writing projects. It is a very clean place, well lit, with excellent views, lots of room and plenty of windows, and the kitchen was quite easy for all 4 of us to cook meals in. The kitchen was fully stocked - very nice. We are planning to make this at least an annual event, and would come back to this house with no hesitation. We were able to walk around downtown, to the beautiful new library and museum, and we walked to the waterfront, which was lovely and quite close. We would recommend this home and Seward to anyone - we were very happy with our experience."

  • Wonderful Cabin, Wonderful Host!

"While planning our 17 day trip to Alaska, I read about the Matanuska Glacier and thought it might be fun to check it out. In order to visit, we needed to find a place to stay the night, and I found Wendy's cabins on VRBO. It looked fabulous online, and when we pulled up, it was exactly as I hoped it would be. As we pulled in, Wendy was on the hill waving so we'd know where to pull in. There were about 7 Dall sheep up on the mountain across the road and we watched them for while. The cabins are beautiful. Wendy's art is on the wall and it's all fabulous. The beds are comfortable and the views from the deck are incredible. The kids never said a word about not being able to watch tv - my son sat outside and looked at the sheep with his binoculars and I taught my daughter how to crochet. Wendy does weekend workshops making silk scarves and she invited my daughter and I to come to her studio to see what she and two women who were staying in another cabin had made that weekend. The scarves were amazing! I would fly to Alaska just to do one of her weekend workshops and make some of my own, while also taking in the beautiful scenery around her cabin. The screened in fire pit near our cabin was an added bonus, but since we were only there one night, we didn't make use of it. The bathrooms and showers were immaculately clean. We planned to hike the glacier with Wendy the following morning, but it was raining pretty hard and we decided to head down to Seward instead. The drive to and from Wendy's cabins on the Glenn Highway is spectacular and not to be missed. We also appreciated Wendy's recommendation for dinner and breakfast at the Sheep Mountain Lodge, just a little way down the road. Both meals were fantastic. If you're planning a trip to the Matanuska Glacier, this is a perfectly relaxing and scenic place to stay, and you won't find a better host."
