  • Wonderful lodging in Girdwood, Alaska

"We just spent the last week staying in this condo in Girdwood. Every detail of our week here was ideal. Communication with the owners was efficient, the condo was immaculate, and the size was ideal for our family of five. We really enjoyed the private hot tub on the balcony. The location was ideal being near a great coffee shop in a quiet, quirky town. Initially we were a little concerned when we saw a group of run-down looking mobile homes that are next door to the buildings, but we did not hear a single noise from any neighbors. This condo in Girdwood is the ideal home base for doing day trips. Anchorage is only 35 miles north, Whittier is about 20 miles away (through an amazing tunnel), Hope is about 45 miles and Seward is about 90 miles south. This town is known for the Double Musky Restaurant and Jack Sprats, both which draw people from Anchorage. Having a full kitchen with every amenity, even a coffee grinder, made it possible to eat breakfast in, and then enjoy the Alaskan seafood at various restaurants. We enjoyed The Bridge Restaurant in Anchorage, Swiftwater in Whittier, The Seaview Cafe in Hope, and Double Musky here in Girdwood. We will be recommending this property to friends and family who will be visiting Alaska!"

  • Out favorite in AK

"This was our 2nd stay here, so obviously we like it. Sitting right above a huge lake, the chalet literally is surrounded by soaring mountains. I've been to most of the "great" mountain ranges in the world, and I don't miss any of them when I'm here. The views from this house and the Stellar Jay are both stupendous. Nothing but forest, lake, and mountain. While this is not a fly-in cabin, and you can hear cars pass on the (totally out of view) Seward Highway, and there's a power line behind the house, it is hard to beat a place this easy to get to (1:45 from ANC and :25 to Seward) that feels this remote. World-class hiking trails are in every direction; nearly a dozen within a 15 minute drive. The lake was clear of snow for this March trip, so ice skating was beyond belief. A tub full of legos brought peace to the house for hours every day for our kids. Beds are comfy, and bedrooms carefully darkified. The view from the totally private and wonderful hot tub at both places is addictive - we spent much of both vacations soaking. Gary has been perfectly helpful on both of our trips here (ie road updates during a blizzard, Dall sheep sightings on the drive back). We'll be back, I hope!"

  • Excellent view and Alaskan hospitality

"Great spot right on river, very comfortable, and hospitable. Right in the heart of the Kenai Peninsula, with fabulous fishing, wildlife viewing, and view."

  • Perfect Home Base for Homer

"We loved the architecture and detail in this home - views from every window. This was a very comfortable and quiet base for us. We liked the private entrance and sun deck off the main level. We had a car but were able to walk to the old part of town, the beach, shopping, and an awesome kids' park. The house is 2-bedroom but very spacious. And it worked so well for kids with a big soaking tub and safety gates on the stairs. Also a great place to get some work done - wifi and comfortable desks on both levels. We especially appreciated the opportunity to get some laundry done on our own time. Our hosts were so helpful and patient with us, too! Thank you for a beautiful getaway."
