"I brought my husband and Mom on this vacation so we could see the Northern lights and celebrate my mom's 75th birthday!
My Mom uses a walker and has difficulty with steps. The apartment was perfect! One level and only one step to enter! One of the bathrooms was handicap accessible with hand rails. Beautifully decorated and very clean.
Although the weather was quite cloudy most of the week, the Northern Lights appeared for my Mom's birthday! Amazing! What was great was that we were able to see them right above Jo and Dale's house! So convenient!
Very quiet & peaceful.
The day we were departing there was a huge snow storm...8" and counting when we left for the airport. Our checkout time was 11am but due to the weather, Jo allowed us to stay a little later. Very accommodating.
I highly recommend this home!"

"Hoonah is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy island living in southeast Alaska. And Hoonah Hideout is a perfect place to stay. The kitchen is fully equipped. The knives are sharp too! We brought a car on the ferry from Juneau which helped us get around but the taxi service and lots of walking could work too. In town the roads are mostly paved on the main streets otherwise it is gravel and lots of them wandering all over Chichagof Island. The cabin has one bath with a shower. Washer and dryer and dishwasher. There is one bedroom with a queen bed on the main floor and a large sleeping loft with a queen bed and three twin beds. The ambiance is very Alaskan with pelts and antlers, cushy seating with many windows and a covered porch to enjoy the view of mountains, Eagles, woodpeckers and hummingbirds. A great base for hunting or fishing excursions or just relaxing at 20 mph. Helpful if you bring provisions from Juneau though the Hoonah Trading Co has a good hardware and groceries with frozen meat and some produce, eggs and milk."

"This was a cozy little cottage and our home away from home for 3 days. It was perfect for our family of 4. My kids loved the bunk beds. The cottage was equipped with most things you would need. The cottage is located within walking distance of most places including the Harbor and Sea life Center. It is quiet and you have beautiful views of the mountains from the living room. The owner had provided detailed instructions on accessing the internet, troubleshooting the heating unit and other general things, which was very thoughtful of him. The cottage was clean and the kitchen was well equipped."

"My husband and I had a peaceful and relaxing week at the cabin. We didn't even notice we were off the grid because we had all the modern conveniences but we were able to shut off the world and just be. One day we had fresh pike from the lake for lunch and the next day we had fresh salmon for dinner from a fishing trip we took in Talkeetna. The only wildlife I saw at the cabin was a family of ducks at the dock but it was a joy to watch them every day. We were there during Moose hunting season so there was a bit of traffic on the road. The cabin was a convenient mid-point for us between Anchorage, Talkeetna and Denali. Tom, the owner, communicated with me through out the process very professionally; answered all of my questions immediately, no matter how trivial they were."
