  • Nice Place !

"Great place to get away and see the entire Kenai Peninsula. We were able to fish and sight see from Homer to Seward without having to change property or have an unreasonable drive. The metal walkway to the river was very nice as was the fishing motif for the house decorations. The house was very clean and the owners stocked the refrigerator with all the little things that we usually forget. They also had some things like frozen Pizza and Bacon & Eggs available so we didn't have to eat out when we first got in (which was late of course), nice touch! There had been some large fires earlier in the year which had thrown the area into some confusion. Apparently this had effected some of the upgrades that had been planned and the owner had had to do some maintenance while we were there. They were very considerate and worked around our schedule. Aside from seeing some building materials in the driveway it really didn't affect us at all. One thing we did notice was that the area water is from wells and the forest in which the house is located seems to have a lot of tannins, this gives the water a slight taste, the owned showed us the filtered drinking water system which we used for all drinking water after that."

  • My 2nd Time Here

"As before, my stay was relaxing, comfortable and exciting! (the fishing was awesome) The hosts have thought of every detail and amenity. I really felt welcome and at home. True Alaska style hospitality and the beauty and grandeur to go with it. I'll be back! Mahalo. Richard R. Honolulu, HI"

  • Lots to Do, even if You Don't Fish!

"We stayed 4 nights at this rustic, spacious, well-stocked cabin on the Moose River. We loved the quiet location, yet still convenient to the owner's house nearby. The cabin has a rustic unfinished wood interior with decor similar to a hunting/fishing lodge with caribou and moose antlers. There is loads of storage space! And a state of the art super large washer and dryer are provided. I could almost fit two normal loads of wash in that one washing machine! The kitchen is so well stocked, even with lots of rolls of paper towels, and both regular and decaf coffee. We prepared all our breakfasts, packed all our lunches each day, and made all our dinners at the cabin. A huge Fred Myers grocery/super store is 13 miles away. I must say there is a slightly odd smell (due to the well water) to the water in the bathroom sink, shower, and kitchen sink. But there is a special faucet in the kitchen with good smelling filtered water. The bathroom is really spacious with a full tub/shower, loads of clean towels, and toiletries. We never did use the hot tub, so cannot tell about our experience with that. Every day we would leave for a different outing: Day One we hiked Russian River Falls Trail to see the spawning salmon and then visited Kenai (where we saw 3 caribou along the Bridge Access Road) and Soldotna (really enjoyed seeing the world record size King salmon in the Soldotna Visitor's Center). Day Two we spent all day driving to Homer, stopping at sights along the way. And Day Three we drove the Skilak Lake Road, hiked the Hideout Trail with its spectacular views of the Kenai River, Skilak Lake, and the surrounding mountains, and then hiked the Lower (East) Kenai River Trail to see the Kenai River Canyon. And every night, back at our cabin, we had a great night's sleep with the windows wide open. Loved our stay on the Moose River!"

  • Saved the best for last!

"This lodging truly was crafted with love and an eye for detail. The cabin and furnishings were in their natural habitat. Every time we looked around we saw something new and unique. The owner/builder has a God given talent of looking at a piece of wood and crafting it into either functional furniture or trim. It was clean and neat; well maintained; kitchen utensils well stocked; cereal, coffee, tea, condiments in the cupboards; refrigerator had orange juice and milk stocked; gas grill on the deck; an easy walking path to the river with two benches waiting to be used. Excellent quality bedding and linens. Four senior couples enjoyed a brief, but too short stay; definitely will return if the opportunity arises."
