Worth, Atlanta, Seattle and San Francisco. From Canada, there are frequent flights from Vancouver and Toronto. Alaska is popular vacation destination for travelers from Europe and the Far East. There are regular commercial flights from Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and also Frankfurt in Germany. From Anchorage, you can get domestic flights to your destination.

Sometimes if the area you are visiting is more remote, you will need to travel by seaplane or ferry to get there. The road and rail network in Alaska is limited by the rugged glacial terrain but still provides good access to most major towns and tourist attractions. Alaska is a destination where it is helpful to have some time to spare. The landscapes are so beautiful that it is sometimes worth taking the time to enjoy rather than rushing from place to place.

Many have snowboarding terrain parks and fun ski schools for kids. Snowmobiles are commonly used to get around in the winter months. It is a popular sport too.

The more traditional way to explore the countryside is by dog sledding. The dogs are superbly trained and exceptionally fast. This is an amazing experience. There are several places in Alaska where you can go whitewater rafting on grade IV and V rapids. Be prepared for the ride of your life on the churning white waters. For paddlers, there are many kayaking opportunities. You can also test your skills in the white waters or opt for something a little more leisurely up the fjords or along the coast. In season, you can experience amazing whale, dolphin and orca sightings and get up close to these magnificent creatures of the sea. There are endless hiking opportunities in Alaska. Serious mountaineers travel to Alaska each year to conquer Denali which is North America’s tallest peak. Alaska also has a rich gold mining history and many of the museums tell tales of the early gold pioneers.
