  • Family/Business Trip to Anchorage

"I recently attended a medical conference in Anchorage, but I did not want to pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a family vacation to Alaska. I certainly did not want to stay in a hotel. I rented Goose Lake Lodge for myself, my wife, my 2 year old daughter, my father and my uncle. We stayed for a week. We had quick access to downtown Anchorage for my work duties, but we easily able to get out of town for site seeing adventures. The house was great and the owner was very accommodating. The views are exceptional, to have such a great mountain/lake view from inside the city limits was wonderful. This is a definite must if you have a large crew staying in Anchorage."

  • Cute Vintage House

"We loved the vintage feel in this cute house, but we have an appreciation for these things..the house next door was under extensive outside remodeling but it was nice to see it being restored though a little unsightly. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't more clean, crumbs and paint rollers in the fridge, microwave could have been wiped out and table and counters wiped down. A good vacuuming on the couch and a mop on the kitchen floor would be nice too, but the bedding was clean and beds were comfy. A short walk to the Sea Life Center and the awesome playground. Our 2 year old daughter had lots of room to run and play, bring a child safety gate for the stairs. It was perfect for her to sleep upstairs while we stayed up late. We would definitely stay again. The owners made it super easy!"

  • Wonderful hosts!

"We had a wonderful stay, and are grateful to our hosts. They provided great tips on things to do while in Seward, and our boys enjoyed their treehouse, animals, backgammon... The cabin was very efficient, built and decorated with care. A nice way to finish up our first trip to Alaska!"

Sometimes if the area you are visiting is more remote, you will need to travel by seaplane or ferry to get there. The road and rail network in Alaska is limited by the rugged glacial terrain but still provides good access to most major towns and tourist attractions. Alaska is a destination where it is helpful to have some time to spare. The landscapes are so beautiful that it is sometimes worth taking the time to enjoy rather than rushing from place to place.

Activities and Attractions at Alaska Cabins

Alaska is an adventure and outdoor haven which may be surprising to some, considering the cold climate the state experiences. In both summer and winter, there are a host of great activities that can keep you occupied on your travels. Wherever you go, you will want to take your camera with you to capture the action and great scenery. Some of the great winter attractions are the Northern Lights and the Aurora Borealis. This natural light phenomenon is amazing to see. Alaska has a number of top-quality ski resorts that offer downhill and cross country skiing. Many have snowboarding terrain parks and fun ski schools for kids. Snowmobiles are commonly used to get around in the winter months. It is a popular sport too.

The more traditional way to explore the countryside is by dog sledding. The dogs are superbly trained and exceptionally fast. This is an amazing experience. There are several places in Alaska where you can go whitewater rafting on grade IV and V rapids. Be prepared for the ride of your life on the churning white waters. For paddlers, there are many kayaking opportunities. You can also test your skills in the white waters or opt for something a little more leisurely up the fjords or along the coast. In season, you can experience amazing whale, dolphin and orca sightings and get up close to these magnificent creatures of the sea. There are endless hiking opportunities in Alaska. Serious mountaineers travel to Alaska each year to conquer Denali which is North America’s tallest peak. Alaska also has a rich gold mining history and many of the museums tell tales of the early gold pioneers.
