  • Great place in Wasilla.

"Our family of 4 stayed here for a hockey tournament. It was a great place for resting, being quiet, and it was very comfortable. We could make our own food in the well stocked kitchen. It was cheaper than staying in a motel. The kids liked the games, access to wi-fi, and t.v. (It's winter time- none of that in the summer- we are outside). It was spacious for our family and hockey gear."

  • Excellent Seward Harbor Hideaway

"My dad and I came up from Seattle for a Seward Silver salmon fishing trip. The weather and the charter were a bust, but the saving grace was this awesome little hideaway in downtown Seward. This property is super-clean and totally updated with all of the amenities. 2 bedrooms, and a full bath with full kitchen, and living area. All were updated, with coastal interior colors and decor. Cable tv and wifi were nice little adds. There is a washer and dryer for your convenience as well. All in all a very clean and updated property, and am looking forward to staying here again in the future."

  • Family/Business Trip to Anchorage

"I recently attended a medical conference in Anchorage, but I did not want to pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a family vacation to Alaska. I certainly did not want to stay in a hotel. I rented Goose Lake Lodge for myself, my wife, my 2 year old daughter, my father and my uncle. We stayed for a week. We had quick access to downtown Anchorage for my work duties, but we easily able to get out of town for site seeing adventures. The house was great and the owner was very accommodating. The views are exceptional, to have such a great mountain/lake view from inside the city limits was wonderful. This is a definite must if you have a large crew staying in Anchorage."

  • Amazing!

"What a wonderful place!! The cabin was warm, welcoming and in such a fantastic location. The cabins are slightly out of town, but close enough to be convenient and far enough way for perfect peace and quiet ( and a great spot to see the Northern Lights! ) Debi and Bruce made us feel very welcome, gave us lot’s of advice and help to make the most of our stay, but also lot’s of space to enjoy the environment. I would highly recommend hiring a car (from Alaska Auto Rentals, another great experience) and making the most of this beautiful part of the world. We couldn’t be happier with the cabin, the location and the price. All round it was perfect accommodation on a perfect holiday. We can’t wait to come back"

Alaska Travel Tips

Getting to Alaska Vacation Rentals

Most people will fly to Alaska; the primary airport hub is in Anchorage. During the summer months, there are direct daily flights between Anchorage and other major United States cities such as Denver, Minneapolis St. Paul, Portland, Salt Lake City, Dallas Ft. Worth, Atlanta, Seattle and San Francisco. From Canada, there are frequent flights from Vancouver and Toronto. Alaska is popular vacation destination for travelers from Europe and the Far East. There are regular commercial flights from Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and also Frankfurt in Germany. From Anchorage, you can get domestic flights to your destination.

Sometimes if the area you are visiting is more remote, you will need to travel by seaplane or ferry to get there. The road and rail network in Alaska is limited by the rugged glacial terrain but still provides good access to most major towns and tourist attractions. Alaska is a destination where it is helpful to have some time to spare. The landscapes are so beautiful that it is sometimes worth taking the time to enjoy rather than rushing from place to place.

Activities and Attractions at Alaska Cabins

Alaska is an adventure and outdoor haven which may be surprising to some, considering the cold climate the state experiences. In both summer and winter, there are a host of great activities that can keep you occupied on your travels. Wherever you go, you will want to take your camera with you to capture the action and great scenery. Some of the great winter attractions are the Northern Lights and the Aurora Borealis. This natural light phenomenon is amazing to see. Alaska has a number of top-quality ski resorts that offer downhill and cross country skiing. Many have snowboarding terrain parks and fun ski schools for kids. Snowmobiles are commonly used to get around in the winter months. It is a popular sport too.

The more traditional way to explore the countryside is by dog sledding. The dogs are superbly trained and exceptionally fast. This is an amazing experience. There are several places in Alaska where you can go whitewater rafting on grade IV and V rapids. Be prepared for the ride of your life on the churning white waters. For paddlers, there are many kayaking opportunities. You can also test your skills in the white waters or opt for something a little more leisurely up the fjords or along the coast. In season, you can experience amazing whale, dolphin and orca sightings and get up close to these magnificent creatures of the sea. There are endless hiking opportunities in Alaska. Serious mountaineers travel to Alaska each year to conquer Denali which is North America’s tallest peak. Alaska also has a rich gold mining history and many of the museums tell tales of the early gold pioneers.

Home Comforts at Alaska Lodging

When you visit a destination as beautiful as Alaska, you won’t be spending much time in your accommodation facilities. When you do return at the end of a day, it is nice to feel at home in your surroundings. Vacation homes offer the benefit of privacy and having your own lounge to relax in at the end of a busy day. Relax in front of a roaring fireplace with a guidebook and brochures to plan the next day’s activities.
