  • Home away from home

"My family and friends have been enjoying this lovely chalet for several years now in our escape from the summer heat in the Phoenix area. Excellent location. Very short drive to all attractions in the Flagstaff area. We highly recommend this chalet as long as you don't book it when we want it in the summer!"

  • Comfortable Getaway

"We have several children and were looking for a comfortable getaway that would be truly relaxing and this cabin did not disappoint! It is cozy and charming with plenty of space for 8 people to really unplug and enjoy the woods. It is within walking distance to trails, a short ride to horse and ATV rentals and offers a real retreat from the electronics with wifi but limited cable. We enjoyed playing board games, cards, dominoes and watching movies together. The younger children played outside in the dirt, trees, and numerous hammock swings while the adults read, rested and visited on the porch. If you are looking for a real retreat into the woods to unplug and connect as a family, this is the cabin for you. The rustic feel of the cabin lends itself to creating a cozy and comfortable atmosphere for any guest."

  • Great Family trip

"What a lovely house. It looked just like the photos. We were on a family trip and here was plenty of room for the 6 of us. The kitchen was amazing and had anything we could need. The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. It was fun to watch the golfer a from the deck. The communication from the owner was clear and concise. Highly recommend this house!!"

Canyon Country & Northeast Travel Tips

Getting to Northern Arizona Vacation Rentals

Northern Arizona is famous for the Grand Canyon and it attracts many tourists throughout the year. For visitors from other parts of the world, your main access points are either Phoenix, Arizona or Las Vegas, Nevada. As the crow flies, Las Vegas is closer but the vast canyon lands make access limited so Phoenix is actually the closest major airport when you travel by car. It is located approximately 230 miles south from the Grand Canyon. Phoenix hosts most major airlines from North America and also has good flight connections to other destinations in Europe, South and Central America. Las Vegas International Airport has regular direct flights from the major eastern cities and Europe. If you don't want to drive the 200 or more miles to Northern Arizona then you can get a domestic flight to Flagstaff which has a regional airport. Flagstaff has regularly scheduled flights from Phoenix, Las Vegas and other cities, such as Denver or Salt Lake City. Your best option once in Northern Arizona is to hire a car. There are bus and rail services but they do not operate on a daily basis so you will need to plan carefully if you want to travel this way.

Year-Round Vacations at Northern Arizona Cabins

Arizona is known for its year-round warm climate. The summer months which run from May to October can get blisteringly hot. You need to protect yourself from the sun if you plan to spend any time outdoors. Sunhats, sunglasses, sunscreen and long sleeves are essential, and closed boots are recommended as the terrain is gravelly. In the winter months, it can still get very warm during the day and temperatures drop to below freezing at night. Snow does occur occasionally, especially at higher altitudes. Your best bet is to wear layers so you can peel off or add on as the weather changes. Because of these extremes, most people say that their favorite time of year to visit is during the spring and fall months. The temperatures are somewhat milder but still warm enough to explore and enjoy the many magnificent sights.

Major Attractions and Activities at Northern Arizona Lodging

Most people travel to Northern Arizona to see the impressive natural landmark known as the Grand Canyon. The canyon stretches for a distance of 277 miles along the Colorado River. In places, the canyon is 18 miles wide and more than a mile deep. Scenically, it is one of the most dramatic and impressive landscapes that you can ever wish to see. Sections of the canyon are protected national parkland. There are several viewing sites and lookout points on the canyon's rim. If you want to get a close up perspective of the canyon, one of the best ways is to take a whitewater rafting trip down the Colorado River. Local outfitters offer guided day trips as well as multi-day trips. There are various launch sites depending on which type of trip you opt for. Another way to explore the canyon is by following one of the many hiking trails. If you are inexperienced, it is best to take a guided trip with one of the park rangers or local outfitters.

Visitors to Arizona Vacation Rentals

Northern Arizona attracts a wide variety of visitors. Some come just to tick off the Grand Canyon on their travel list. Others come to marvel and explore its landscapes. Many artists and photographers visit to capture the scenery on film or canvas. Outdoor enthusiasts can choose from a number of great adventure activities in the area.
