"We have just returned from Hacienda del Mayar (4-18 April 2015), where we were joined by our daughter and her family from Minnesota – for the third time in 4 years.
We can only endorse the enthusiastic reviews posted by previous visitors, which are surely 100% genuine, since the Hacienda really is exceptional. That we are willing to travel from the UK to get there speaks for itself. Every year Karine and Jean-Michel have added amenities, while replacing anything that was starting to show wear and tear.
It is a very comfortable, nicely laid out and conveniently situated property, so one doesn't feel the need to go out too much. However it is an ideal base for getting to know the uncrowded and attractive country between I-10 and the border, since Houghton is now a fast exit to the south.
This year the pool was nicely warmed up by the beginning of April and the palo verde a riot of colour. However the warm winter meant that the hummingbird migration was over, with only a few stragglers to be seen. (We were surprised to find that Patagonia Lake was closing down for the summer in mid-April).
This might be our last stay, since our daughter's family are considering moving to this area of Tucson. Karine has been most helpful with advice and introductions, even although this might mean losing a booking. In all ways she is a pleasure to deal with, welcoming and genuinely concerned about her visitors' needs."

"After just experiencing a "Not Wonderful" lodging in another city, Garcia House was such a treat. It really was like staying with a friend. The Casita was so comfortable. The bed was great, the kitchen had everything & more. My dog & I really enjoyed the screened in porch. I think my dog made a new friend. It was so relaxing. Fran was very helpful with restaurant suggestions, sightseeing help & general info. I will definitely be back. Thank you Fran, for everything."

"This little guesthouse is quiet and comfortable. It is well-stocked with dishes and even has a laundry room. There is a little patio that is very private. It's not in a fancy part of town, but it's convenient to everything central if you have a car. Penny and Dennis are nearby if you need them but respect your privacy."

"I wanted to add a few things. The pictures posted on the property listing are great, but don't really do justice to what you will actually see. There are at least 4 balconies on the home, facing in various directions. You get views of the Catalina Mountains and also downtown Tucson which are truly incredible. There is great hiking in the area, and the community which the house is in is incredible. We did a quick trip up to Mt. Lemmonn, which everyone should do if they are in Tucson, and it was only a short 45-50 minute drive to the top. If you have a large group and are debating whether or not to book a house or hotel, definitely book this house. You have so much room to entertain and at the same time have all the guests feel like they have their own space as well. I should also mention that the home was incredibly clean and everything worked properly. I will absolutely rent this house again in the future."
