"We were so happy and comfortable here at the guest house! Penny and Dennis have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into making it cozy. There was plenty of bedding, cookware, etc. We especially enjoyed sitting outside in the little yard/ patio area."

  • Great house in a great location

"The house was wonderfully furnished and spotlessly clean. What you see in the pictures and read in the description are exactly what you get. This place exceeded all our expectations. The king sized bed in the master was more comfortable than our bed at home. This was the best VRBO facility that we have stayed in to date. Our purpose in visiting Tucson was to hike and take pictures in Saguaro National Park and the surrounding area. We wanted a place to stay that was close to the city but not in the middle of it. This place was in the perfect location for us. Located in the foothills near the Catalina highway, it had plenty of outdoor space but was close to stores and restaurants. A 15 minute drive brought you to the visitors' center at the eastern section of Saguaro National Park. When we arrived, we were greeted by a family of 8 or 10 Harris Hawks perched in a tree in front of the house. Wildlife was plentiful including deer, rabbits, roadrunners, quail and a multitude of other species of birds feeding at the numerous bird feeders in the back yard. This area also has some of the best hiking and biking opportunities we have experienced anywhere. For sightseeing, a trip to Summerhaven at the top of Mt. Lemmon (elevation of 8,000+ feet) is a must. Or, if you are up to it, you can bike the 27 miles to the top. For hiking, be sure to check out the topographical map of the Coronado National Forest in the basket on the bookshelf. You can't go wrong with this place."

  • Perfect weekend getaway

"This is a gem of a house. The place is really clean and well maintained. The owner is a gracious host. It is a great feeling to wake up in the morning here and take in the view of the lovely city of Tucson encircled by mountains. I should also mention the spectacular sunset without which this review would be incomplete. Do not miss it for the world if you are here!! All in all, I had a really good time. I highly recommend this amazing rental and I would definitely like to come back here."

  • So good, I came back for another stay!

"I originally stayed rented out the Hacienda Hideout while I was in grad school back in 2009, and I loved it so much that I promised myself I'd come back at some point. Although that was five years ago, I finally made it back, and I am still in love with this place. Even though I was an older student when I stayed here the first time, this place was/is like the ultimate getaway and is a great place to stay for weekend trips, a romantic getaway, or for the ultimate snowbirds. Each time I came home, I felt like I was escaping from the city! It is a cute little guest house on a ranch just yards away from the main house with stunning views of the mountains on the eastern and western sides. You are essentially surrounded by nature-- a saguaro and barrel cacti outside your window and depending on the season, you might see a fox, javelina, hummingbirds, deer, or owls in the yard! The house is a designed in a very traditional Southwestern style with polished concrete flooring, sturdy hardwood and quality leather furniture, authentic Southwestern decorations, and includes a washer and dryer! There is a back patio with an amazing view of the mountains and is great for breakfast and enjoying the sunsets. You don't want to miss out on this one! The location is perfect, too! It is also conveniently close to Gates Pass-- allowing easy access to watch the sun rise and set everyday if you wish along with the Saguaro National Park (west side), the Desert Museum, and old Tucson. Downtown is close by and there is a farmer's market along with several grocery stores nearby, as well. The landlords are amazing, too-- very down-to-earth, friendly, and accomodating people-- they go out of their way to make you feel at home. I asked if the guesthouse had a juicer, and they bought one! I have rented guesthouses all over the country, and I have to say that this place is my favorite of all. Trust me on this one, folks-- you don't want to miss out!"
