"Being a traveler and used to the amenities of big hotels in major cities, beautiful resorts and vacation homes, I was very surprised to find a gem - Trimble Creek Lodge - in the heart of the Ozarks. From the moment, my brother and I stepped out of the car to our final day at this resort, we were impressed by the level of personalized service by the proprietors, Lorilee and Mike. They were not only warm, hospitable and friendly hosts, but very informative and highly knowledgeable about the area. They lent a special touch to everything – from the welcome sign that greeted us as we entered the lodge, to the bouquet of fresh flowers delivered to the rooms daily. The cabins were very CLEAN, cozy and charming; the décor added to the feeling of a real home.
Upon arrival, and after being led to our quarters, my first impulse was to lay in bed and sleep because I was tired from driving. But the scenery beckoned. The large windows in the lodge offered a view of Bull Shoals Lake that was irresistible and breathtaking. One could read, play a game of pool or backgammon or simply sit, relax and enjoy nature. The gravel paths that meandered around the property offered many surprises – a vegetable garden, a tree house, a homey barn, a small grove of chestnut trees, beautiful rocks from the “Natural State” and breathtaking views of the lake and its creeks.
We sampled Lorilee’s delicious home-made bread, which was freshly baked, but disappointingly, we did not have the time to take the lesson in bread making due to the lack of time.
Trimble Creek offered a lot of privacy and a welcome relief from the stresses of city living.
I highly recommend this beautiful resort and will definitely return and hope to stay longer!"

"For us, a trip to Sophia House is not a matter of loading the car and hitting the road to Arkansas. It involves a 20,000 mile round trip from Canberra in Australia. A trip which involves seventeen hours sitting on a plane from Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth. We have just returned from our third trip to Sophia House and there may be more to come.
Our son and his family live in Dallas and we have three delightful grandchildren that we never see enough of. Their home life revolves around sporting commitments, a home business and the demands that young children make and the challenges to keep them amused and so on. We needed a place where we could leave all this behind and focus upon developing that all important bond with our grandkids.
Sophia House was THE gift from heaven. A place where we could leave online diversions and the TV behind. We spent hours down the river the "boys" all keen catch and release fishermen while the littlies were happily playing in the water and watching the fish and the little river turtle that my wife found while snorkelling. And there were comfortable chairs under a shady tree where we could all relax with a drink and enjoy each other's company yarning away.
The house is very comfortable, well equipped and the seven of us never felt that we were cramped for room. Our lovely hostess Jane and her team keep the house spotless and the welcoming basket of goodies plus the flowers for my wife's birthday were an unexpected bonus.
Sitting on the timber deck in the evening and again in the morning with a coffee, you may see deer, squirrels, raccoons and other wildlife. There is a variety of bird life on site also.
But what really makes Sophia House so "different" is the aura of calm and peace that it generates. It has an ambience that I have rarely encountered during our travels world wide. This was an asset when bonding with the family that you haven't seen for two and a half years. A few moments in quiet reflection inside the little chapel also adds to this sense of calm and peace.
Having said this, why are we planning to return? Because it is a wonderful place for a family to get away from the rat race and be refreshed both in body and soul. Once you have adjusted from the tempo of your daily life to that offered by Sophia House and absorbed what it has to offer, you will be left with memories that will stay with you for years.
As we Aussies say. Give it a go, mate. It's a ripper!"

The yard is well taken care of and the clear River is about 100 feet from back door. Thanks Gary for letting my family share your home."
