"We arrived into the Jasper area via Route 7, not quite knowing what to expect. This whole mountainous area took our breath away - simply gorgeous. We check in at the cabin's office and meet two of the kindest people we have met to date. Yes you get a goodie bag but more importantly I enjoyed the warm-hearted small talk with these charming folks whom are very knowledgeable about the area you are staying in. MJ gave us the run down on some very simply guidelines about your stay in the cabin as well as a VERY thorough packet of things to do while you are there. EVERYTHING was covered: swimming spots, hiking trails, canoe rental, horse back riding, literally anything you want to do is within this packet. This was VERY much appreciated as we hadn't planned out our trip too much other than booking the cabin.
After that, we get to the cabin and again, simply blown-away, by the view that is directly in front of this cabin. A crystal-clear view of the Ozarks awaits you, complete with a small deck with chairs right at the ridge (the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee, though the porch is great for that too). Everything you need is furnished both inside and outside of the cabin. Plenty of outdoor furniture, a grill, a fireplace with wood, bird feeder, etc. Inside was no different. I normally wouldn't care about having a TV in a place like this in the mountains but when we had our 6 year old son with us, it was much appreciated. All of the furnishings you need are provided along with cookware. The small touches were appreciated and noticed. Not only the sign and cookies and goodies. I found a book in the bathroom written by someone in my home state. Coincidence? I think not. John and MJ truly want you to enjoy your stay and you will feel that and appreciate that, every day that you are there.
In all, it was one of my favorite trips I have taken (and certainly my families favorite). That says a lot as I've done tons of travelling in the Boy Scouts growing up and a lot since then too. The feeling of being totally isolated on a barren mountain, deep into the woods, with nothing but you and the abundant wildlife around you is difficult to describe but better to experience yourself. If you want to lose yourself in the wilderness for a week or two, this is THE perfect place to do so. Cabin aside, we fell in love with the mighty buffalo river - the perfect venue for all sorts of water sports, canoeing and tubing among them. Book this one NOW, you won't regret it."
