"We had 3 families spend a week in this home, including 9 kids. The parents took the 3 rooms with the large beds and the we put the 5 girls in the extra downstairs room and the 4 boys in the extra upstairs room.
We had a few maintenance issues while we were there, but the owners were responsive - particularly with the downstairs AC unit not blowing cold. Repairman showed up the same day we called and got it fixed thankfully!
Kitchen was kind of small for a group as large as ours, but we managed. Basically we tried to limit it to one parent per family in the kitchen at a time :) Kids had a blast fishing on and around the dock. It is a small dock, I'd say you wouldn't really want more than 3 or 4 on it. The bed we slept in was firmer than my preference and seemed to be compressed on the edges so that you felt like you might roll off at any time, but I slept okay.
We were able to get everyone showered in a timely manner using all 3 bathrooms. Hot water was always available. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and do their own thing without feeling cramped. We made use of the charcoal grill on 3 occasions and that was awesome.
Everything that we wanted to do in around Hot Springs was pretty close to this property, so I felt like the location was great. It was quiet. The few neighbors we did run into were nice and courteous. The place is very conducive to a relaxing vacation!"

"For us, a trip to Sophia House is not a matter of loading the car and hitting the road to Arkansas. It involves a 20,000 mile round trip from Canberra in Australia. A trip which involves seventeen hours sitting on a plane from Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth. We have just returned from our third trip to Sophia House and there may be more to come.
Our son and his family live in Dallas and we have three delightful grandchildren that we never see enough of. Their home life revolves around sporting commitments, a home business and the demands that young children make and the challenges to keep them amused and so on. We needed a place where we could leave all this behind and focus upon developing that all important bond with our grandkids.
Sophia House was THE gift from heaven. A place where we could leave online diversions and the TV behind. We spent hours down the river the "boys" all keen catch and release fishermen while the littlies were happily playing in the water and watching the fish and the little river turtle that my wife found while snorkelling. And there were comfortable chairs under a shady tree where we could all relax with a drink and enjoy each other's company yarning away.
The house is very comfortable, well equipped and the seven of us never felt that we were cramped for room. Our lovely hostess Jane and her team keep the house spotless and the welcoming basket of goodies plus the flowers for my wife's birthday were an unexpected bonus.
Sitting on the timber deck in the evening and again in the morning with a coffee, you may see deer, squirrels, raccoons and other wildlife. There is a variety of bird life on site also.
But what really makes Sophia House so "different" is the aura of calm and peace that it generates. It has an ambience that I have rarely encountered during our travels world wide. This was an asset when bonding with the family that you haven't seen for two and a half years. A few moments in quiet reflection inside the little chapel also adds to this sense of calm and peace.
Having said this, why are we planning to return? Because it is a wonderful place for a family to get away from the rat race and be refreshed both in body and soul. Once you have adjusted from the tempo of your daily life to that offered by Sophia House and absorbed what it has to offer, you will be left with memories that will stay with you for years.
As we Aussies say. Give it a go, mate. It's a ripper!"

"This was our summer meeting place between Mississippi and Kansas! Great place for the older kids and us adults. Tom was extremely helpful, accommodating and knowledgeable! Woke up to awesome views every morning. May need to treat for wasps, but not too much of a nuisance. Kitchen was just right and stores not more than 5 minutes away! My family would stay here again."

"We rented the Meringue Cottage from Tim and couldn't have been more pleased. The property is gorgeous, the house right out of a magazine and Tim was a great host. He made himself available without being intrusive and he was exceptionally kind and accommodating. We can't wait to go back!!!"
