  • Family Vacation

"My husband and I along with 2 of our 3 older children stayed here for a week-long family vacation. My son-in-law brought his kayaks so we all had a great time paddling around the lake. The house was very comfortable and homey. We home-cooked most of our meals and found the kitchen pretty well stocked. The one thing that would have made it better for me was if ALL the windows had screens on them. The weather was absolutely perfect but we had to keep the windows closed at night so the bugs wouldn't come in. But all in all it was an excellent week and the kids have requested we come back every year and make the visit a tradition."

  • Beautiful relaxing home with everything right there!

"My husband and I stayed in this lovely home for 5 days while attending a wedding in Little Rock one evening. The home, property and views were amazing. A very private area that was quiet and peaceful so we were able to listen to all the sounds of nature. The outside patios and furnishings were very comfortable and the home itself is equipped very nicely. There were two very good restaurants nearby with lake views as well as several grocery stores; however, the home was nestled away in a secluded area that was private. We enjoyed just being there so much we decided to spend most of our time right there. Perfect place to grill, have a fire, fish and swim. It was to chilly to get in the water but they have an amazing deck right there that would allow one to slowly go down the steps and enjoy a raft while visiting with those on the deck. They also have a great place to slip your boat right there. I highly recommend this vacation home; it would be wonderful for a girls weekend or for a family as the house is very spacious. Also, don't forget the jacuzzi with TV in the master bath; it's simply wonderful before retiring for the evening. Also, I dealt with Richard, the owner and he was extremely friendly and accommodating with our needs. Really can't say enough about this home and he also owns a smaller cottage on the same property that combined would be the perfect place for friends or families to reunite and enjoy!!!"

  • A Perfect Vacation!

"Our visit to Lake Cortez House in Hot Springs Village was amazing. We haven't had a family vacation for many years in part to career demands; etc. After seeing pictures and reading numerous outstanding reviews regarding Cortez House.....I knew it was the place for us. As it turns out, it was more than we had hoped for....it was perfect. I have never felt more comfortable and at home...away from home....as the four days spent there. House owners, Steve and Tammy, thought of absolutely everything that you could possibly need....including an ice cream maker found in a utility room closet! The views are simply breathtaking from the many rooms facing the lake. The most rewarding surprise was the privacy. Most times, we were the only ones present on the lake. The kitchen was totally equipped...which was nice and convenient....as we prepared most of our meals at the house. Outside on the upper deck is a grill that is by far, the best we have ever grilled on. The laundry room is fully equipped and it was great having all our laundry finished and ready to just put away when we arrived back home. I can honestly say...clothes and personal items are all that is really needed for a trip to this amazing house. Our intention was to enjoy most of our time at the house itself and on the lake. We do enough eating out and driving in cars while at home. We did venture out one night to have pizza at Charlie's Pizza Pub in the Village. It was a short drive (as many restaurants are) from the house and it was unanimously decided that it was some of the very best pizza we had ever had....anywhere! If you want great, friendly service and some awesome pizza...check them out while you are there! If you do forget something you need; Wal-Mart is a short drive as well. Many, many thanks to Steve and Tammy for allowing us to bring our precious boy Max (family dog.) We were so surprised that someone would open their beautiful home to someone who wanted to share a family vacation with a rather large family dog. It was the perfect vacation and Cortez House is the perfect place for family vacations to come. Thank you for making possible a wonderful vacation full of memories that will forever be treasured!"

  • Amazingly relaxing, very friendly property owner

"My girlfriend and I had wonderful time during our stay at this old-fashioned cabin by the river. Everything we needed was there, the view was gorgeous, and pleasantly quiet and peaceful. The property owner was very friendly and helpful, one night we locked ourselves out of the cabin and she came to the rescue in minutes. We will definitely come and visit again."

Making Your Way to Arkansas Vacation Rentals

The Little Rock National Airport is the largest airport in Arkansas. The airport hosts most major airlines in North America and has regular commercial connections to most major cities in the U.S. There are three smaller regional airports that host domestic and regional flights in and around the state. These can be found in Texarkana, Fort Smith and the Northwest region. For a more leisurely way to get around, why not do part of your journey on the Texas Eagle railroad? The route runs through the state of Arkansas from the northeast to the southwest, and stops in towns and cities such as Walnut Ridge, Little Rock, Malvern and Texarkana. The train runs twice daily. Because of the many outdoor attractions, most people like to drive around Arkansas. If you are not traveling by car from your hometown, you can arrange a rental from any one of the regional airports.

The majority of Arkansas enjoys a humid subtropical climate which results in hot humid summers and cold dry winters. The northern regions of the state have a more temperate climate, owing to the higher elevation and mountainous regions. Your season of choice for traveling will largely depend on what activities you want to do. The winter months see snow over most of the northern region and snow sports can be enjoyed. In the summertime, the rainfall generally is characterized by dramatic thunderstorms which are relatively short-lived.
