  • Dreamy Comfortable Home

"I looked at this property before but opted for a 100 year old cabin closer to Hwy 1. I was to rebook the 100 year old place but the listing showed not available. I later found the site was not working. How lucky for my family of 4. We found this cabin to be much more accommodating and comfortable. This is a charming home cared for with love and pride. My husband and I spent a great amount of time on the deck overlooking the forest and ridge. Just being, listening to wildlife at night, watching the forest come alive in the mornings. The deck is large and comfortable, it pulled me like a magnet upon rising. My husband was drawn there when the sun set after our day trips to the various parks and towns. He is a star gazer and brought his portable telescope for viewing. He grilled steaks one night & declared he must have a gas grill just like it. The grown kids enjoyed the panoramic views from the rooms & wifi. They were up with the dawn bird watching, enjoying the ridge wake up. The kitchen is spacious, well stocked with a large separate dining room. We dined and played board games in the dining room. It's a perfect floor plan for families. We ran the roads somewhat. The parks and area are otherworldly beautiful. The same can be said about the ridge house. We enjoyed being right there and not always going. We did dine at the local tap house burger night and dined in Monterey as well as shopped. The Ridge is close to everything but far away to wrap yourself and your senses in tranquility and peace. Thank you Cheryl & Jake for your lovely hospitality. We will be back!"

  • UNFORGETABLE

"My girlfriend and I took a last minute trip here to celebrate Valentine's Day together, and, well, it's was one of the most rememberable vacations of our lives. This place is so special you almost don't want to review it in hopes the next time you decide to escape the city and explore the paradise that is Big Sur, it'll be sitting open and ready for you to stay. However, with an owner nice enough to stop by and leave us a bottle of wine to celebrate with and a property manager in Linda that went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel welcome and comfortable, think it's only right that we share just how amazing this property is. The house is located miles off the main road of Big Sur, taking you up a private mountain road, winding itself to the top to reveal a beyond epic panoramic view spanning from the Big Sur lighthouse to the right to Pfeiffer Beach on the left. Any concerns of being pestered by traveling tourists or screaming children are suddenly eliminated as you immediately realize this house is made for tranquility and utter isolation. Once you arrive at the house, as it sits on a beautiful valley view, you soon realize that the 20 some odd acres that surround the property and the three balconies that overlook the lush forrest are your own personal playground in which you will spend most of your time relaxing and exploring (we actually pulled two lounge chairs together the last night and slept on the balcony, under a full moon and a sky full of stars). The interior of the house is immaculately curated to have all the appeal of modern living, while always retaining the "homey" comfort that you would expect from a remote mountain get away. We even joked that if we were to design a house, it would have all the qualities that this property exudes....warm wooden structures, fire burning stoves, open glass views, and comforting rooms all around. Dishes / utensils are plentiful enough to cook for an entire family every night, and any other amenity you would need is provided. The easy access to Pfeiffer was amazing, as are some pretty remote and epic views of the arches are you are descending down the back side of the mountain. The trails around the house are nice, but there is better hiking in Big Sur to be had. Only negative was that we couldn't utilize fire pit outside due to the severe drought, but we were more than understanding of that considering the huge burn that had just happened. Overall, A+ experience. We will be back. Soon!!!"

  • THE GREATEST WEEK OF OUR LIVES

""The Greatest Week of Our Lives"- enough said. For those of you who require more than this one sentence (no matter how impactful) I will add this: the adults who stayed at Moose Lodge have also visited, in some degree of comfort, the following locations: the Greek Islands, all of Scandinavia, Hawaii, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Tokyo, virtually all the countries of Western Europe, Prague, Gdansk, Krakow and several countries in Eastern Europe, the shores of Newfoundland, British Columbia, Mexico, Brazil and.......well, you get the picture. I forgot to mention any locale in the Caribbean or Mediterranean or place elsewhere lapped by equatorial waters. Each of us has also driven, quite leisurely, across the expanse of the United States and saw a lot of beauty while doing so. Personally, I love everything about the Atlantic Ocean- the villages that dot its coastline, the people, the food, the history- you name it. None of those travel experiences came close to what we experienced while at Moose Lodge. Each of us was stunned by how powerfully it transformed our feelings about the pieces of the world we'd already seen- and there are several strong cynics among us. It was the greatest week of our lives. Give yourself a tremendous favor: stay there. And invite me when you do?"

  • Memorable 60th birthday filled with coastal views and magnificent stars

"Just returned from several nights at this amazing property! The roar of the ocean coupled with the solitude and serenity of being in this rustic cabin made for a fabulous weekend retreat. Basking in the Big Sur sunshine, watching birds, boats and waves during the daytime and awed by the nighttime stargazing, nothing could have been more perfect for the two of us."
