  • THE GREATEST WEEK OF OUR LIVES

""The Greatest Week of Our Lives"- enough said. For those of you who require more than this one sentence (no matter how impactful) I will add this: the adults who stayed at Moose Lodge have also visited, in some degree of comfort, the following locations: the Greek Islands, all of Scandinavia, Hawaii, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Tokyo, virtually all the countries of Western Europe, Prague, Gdansk, Krakow and several countries in Eastern Europe, the shores of Newfoundland, British Columbia, Mexico, Brazil and.......well, you get the picture. I forgot to mention any locale in the Caribbean or Mediterranean or place elsewhere lapped by equatorial waters. Each of us has also driven, quite leisurely, across the expanse of the United States and saw a lot of beauty while doing so. Personally, I love everything about the Atlantic Ocean- the villages that dot its coastline, the people, the food, the history- you name it. None of those travel experiences came close to what we experienced while at Moose Lodge. Each of us was stunned by how powerfully it transformed our feelings about the pieces of the world we'd already seen- and there are several strong cynics among us. It was the greatest week of our lives. Give yourself a tremendous favor: stay there. And invite me when you do?"

  • Mr

"Second year we have stayed. Very quite and deep up in the trees. All you need is there. Great place to relax, rest, read, cook. Close to Carmel and groceries etc. when your there you don't want to leave. It's a very crowded state, too crowded. But you see no one at this spot. We will return."

  • Lovely, charming, high-end cabin in ideal location

"I spent and inordinate amount of time searching through every hotel, rental property, and alternative accommodation in the Big Sur area before concluding that this cabin was an absolute standout and the ideal choice. I wanted to be very close hiking and not to have to do much driving once we arrived. And, coming down from the San Francisco peninsula, I did not want to go to the far end of BigSur but be in the middle of things and wanted to visit Nepenthe as a part of the trip. While we initially felt this cabin was out of our price range, once I compared it to every other option available, it was clear it was an excellent value. In addition, because we had a kitchen, we had the pleasure and savings of being able to prepare simple meals right there. It is set up so you can prepare more elaborate meals, but we didn't want to take the time to do this. It was such a pleasure to hang out in the high-end living room, bedroom, and take advantage of the lovely bathroom. It was cozy in front of the extremely easy to operate fireplace. And the views of the windows and to the skylights of the redwoods are outstanding. We walked down to the beautiful beach at the bottom of the road twice in our three nights there. We hiked trails very close by, had breakfast once at the Big Sur lodge and once at the Big Sur bakery. We had a special meal at Nepenthe which is absolutely not to be missed. What a setting! Heading to the pleasure, I had taken out a book from the library about the history of Nepenthe and it was fascinating to read while visiting. Well we did not meet Linda, she was a phone call away and I had to call her when I broke the key in the door. She was supportive and helpful and said she would take care of it all which she did. We had a lovely time and I think this is by far the best place to stay in Big Sur."

  • Dreamy Comfortable Home

"I looked at this property before but opted for a 100 year old cabin closer to Hwy 1. I was to rebook the 100 year old place but the listing showed not available. I later found the site was not working. How lucky for my family of 4. We found this cabin to be much more accommodating and comfortable. This is a charming home cared for with love and pride. My husband and I spent a great amount of time on the deck overlooking the forest and ridge. Just being, listening to wildlife at night, watching the forest come alive in the mornings. The deck is large and comfortable, it pulled me like a magnet upon rising. My husband was drawn there when the sun set after our day trips to the various parks and towns. He is a star gazer and brought his portable telescope for viewing. He grilled steaks one night & declared he must have a gas grill just like it. The grown kids enjoyed the panoramic views from the rooms & wifi. They were up with the dawn bird watching, enjoying the ridge wake up. The kitchen is spacious, well stocked with a large separate dining room. We dined and played board games in the dining room. It's a perfect floor plan for families. We ran the roads somewhat. The parks and area are otherworldly beautiful. The same can be said about the ridge house. We enjoyed being right there and not always going. We did dine at the local tap house burger night and dined in Monterey as well as shopped. The Ridge is close to everything but far away to wrap yourself and your senses in tranquility and peace. Thank you Cheryl & Jake for your lovely hospitality. We will be back!"
