  • Dreamy house

"We had a perfect stay at this cozy, spacious, bright home just on the outskirts of town. My mother found the rigorous uphill walk back from the beach a bit strenuous, but we enjoyed weaving through the little streets to see the charming story book homes. We found the house very clean and accommodating. I could definitely recommend this lovely home for anyone staying in Carmel."

  • A Wonderfully Unique and Memorable Get-Away

"Though we were only a few hours away from home, our stay at The Hacienda made us feel as though we had escaped into another land. The intricate carvings, rich colors, and incredibly unique artifacts and art pieces from around the world gave The Hacienda an edge that we had never seen before. We feel so blessed to have been able to make such lovely memories in such a beautiful place. The setting was gorgeous! Nestled on a hilltop with a magnificent view of the ocean and the towns below. The location is extremely quiet other than the surrounding nature and very private. The temperatures during our stay were a welcome change from the 100+* weather from which we'd come. We had highs of roughly 73* and lows in the 50*'s, accompanied by the fog that rolled in every afternoon. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna, and sat by the roaring glow of the fire each night. The treasured time with our family while roasting s'mores and listening to our favorite tunes on the outdoor speakers will be remembered fondly. The Hacienda is located only a short distance from Monterey, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Point Lobos and 17 Mile Drive. The owners were incredibly gracious and were available any time we needed them, while still providing our group with the space to explore the property and feel as though we had the entire hill and surrounding land to ourselves. Overall we could not have asked for a more unique and memorable get-away than here at The Hacienda."

  • Perfect for a quiet, relaxing get away ...

"We (three adults) stayed at this home for 6 nights during the second week of October 2014. The first thing we noticed was how quiet and private the home is. The patio was perfect for lounging. The living room has large windows that overlook the large, central patio and we found after arriving that the large windows are actually sliding doors that open - a nice option for bringing the outdoors in. The bedrooms are not large but the beds are very comfortable. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds with doors that open onto patios, one opens onto the central patio the other to a small, private patio. The third bedroom has twin beds which you must walk through to access one of the queen bedrooms but there is a hallway between the two bedrooms with a full bath off that hallway and a door that closes to the hallway so the set up works well for privacy during the night. The second bath also has a walk in shower which is nice if you are traveling with someone who cannot negotiate a bath tub. The only sound you hear during the night is the faint sound of the ocean which makes for a very peaceful sleep. The beach is a short walk from the house, and town, although not terribly close, is walkable. We walked to town in less than 20 minutes at a mild pace. The house is, however, very walkable to the Mission Ranch if you are inclined to dine or drink there. The kitchen is well appointed for cooking and there is a counter with bar stools that overlooks the kitchen which is nice for visiting while one cooks. As to suggestions for improvement - these are so minor I almost feel bad about mentioning them: 1. a wooden cutting board for the kitchen, the ceramic cutting board was awkward; and 2. a good knife for cutting vegetables. All of the knives have a serrated edge. That said, we loved our stay at this property and have already booked a return visit. A perfect stay. Thank you to proprietor Sean for sharing this wonderful home."

  • Homey and comfortable

"We had a wonderful stay, just as everyone else has said. Best location, very comfortable, lots of room to spread out, well stocked kitchen, lots of stars at night. All in our group mentioned that it was the first placed away from home that they had no trouble sleeping. It has a safe and timeless feeling."
