"We've enjoyed half a dozen long weekends down in Carmel and staying at the cottage definitely ranks as one of our favorites! The place is lovely, light-filled, quiet, well-equipped and close to Rocky Point which is a must-see destination. Jann is extremely kind and thoughtful. My husband and I and our dog all really relaxed during our stay."

"I have rented around two dozen homes over the past decade or so. Many of them exquisite as well as being located on the California coast. None have been better than Pelican Cove. The view is amazing. The home is peaceful and comfortable. Four fantastic and different beaches are all within a 10 mile drive. I rarely want to revisit a home that I have rented, simply because I've seen it. But I will return to Yankee Point, assuming Nora still has the home available.
We were group of five: two adults and three middle-school aged children. Everyone had their own bedroom. Four bedrooms have views, and in addition to the master bath, there are two bathrooms with showers. There is also a washer and dryer. The kitchen is the best appointed kitchen I have ever rented. Two people can work comfortably in the kitchen while watching the waves. We had fires in the living room fire place with the sliding doors open to allow some cool evening breezes.
The four beaches are different and peaceful in their own way. The nearest is a short five minute walk from the home. Its "public" but only in the sense that there is only a couple of people ever there. The other beaches include the popular beach in Carmel - which the kids thought was best because it was the easiest for swimming. We also went to the rocky beach at Molera State Park. But, my favorite is Garappata State Beach. A mile of beach with great wave action (not really suitable for young kids to swim) and great beach sand and views. There was never any more than two dozen people at this long and country beach - only a couple of houses high on the mountains/hills behind the beach. You must go to Garappata!
Importantly, the home is on "city" water, meaning that its treated and pure. Many of the homes along the California coast rely on rainwater or delivered water. Some of these rentals even say that you should not drink the tap water. If you rent one of those, then be quite careful about the water from the tanks and reinforce to the kids not to drink it. But no worries at Nora's home. Everything is quite fine and safe for the kids.
I truly can't imagine a better place!"

"The cottage was perfect. Beautiful view, peace and quiet, accessible to numerous hiking trails and historical to boot. Definitely a one of a kind location. The owners of the property are so nice. I arrived in a complete state of stress burn out and left with a smile on my face; relaxed and ready to take on the world again. It's close to all the tourist action but tucked away from it. I will definitely be returning to this very special place."

"This two story cottage is more beautifullll than the pictures show. We said that as soon as we walked in. The atmosphere is so warm and the light all day is amazing.
It is charming and still the decor leaves space for YOU and is in the best way neutral. And ..the views! Pictures do not show how big the porch is that faces the ocean and the amazing sunsets. We had colder weather and so we usually lay on the bed upstairs and watched the sun setting from there or sat with a glass of wine on the cozy couch upstairs.
It actually feels like you have two houses in one. Perfect ...when one of us got up earlier or wanted some alone time.
Weather did permit some meals on the porch. You will find a table and grill.
The lounging chars are not the most comfy but we did enjoy sitting there of course.
We have to tell you about the birds. We had birds coming to visit us on the porch. A few seeds or granola and they ate out of your hand. We enjoyed that.
The garden surrounding the cottage is very well taken care of too and sooooo many flowers to enjoy. Many you will find in vases waiting for you in the home. That is a lovely touch!
Everything is of best quality. The towels are soooo soft. The bathrobes plush. The bed is wonderful. The kitchen supplies generous . Many informative books . You will find all you need.
The bathroom...yes it is small. Shower is powerful though. Here we would have needed a bit more space just for putting our things. We stayed here 10 days so you bring more with you then :) !...maybe an extra shelf or little shelves in the window?
The area is our favorite now. So close to everything and amazing vegetation and views.
The owners home is close by, that was a bit of a surprise at first but ....we quickly realized that all has been arranged for complete privacy.
Plants are placed for visual privacy and there are blinds where you would want them. Upstairs you are only facing nature and in the downstairs there was just one Window where we pulled down the blinds ( although the view to the garden is breathtaking)
Plus...we did not even see our gracious landlady except for the introduction tour and when we received a sweet send off in the end.
She is a wonderful woman who obviously really cares for the place and makes sure your experience is a 5 star one.
What made this place so special for us where the generosity, the personal touches, the beauty, the silence ....and that it immediately felt like home."
