  • Great Place to Get Away!

"I just spent Labor Day weekend at the Chalone house to celebrate my 50th birthday with a group of friends. The house is beautiful and very spacious. One of the main reasons I booked it was so none of my guests would feel cramped or as though they were stepping on each other (i.e. waiting for the bathroom). There was plenty of space for everyone to feel comfortable (and we had 12 people one night). Being in the middle of a vineyard provided all the seclusion one could ask for with the most breathtaking views! There's fun things to do nearby too, like wine tasting at the local vineyards, and hiking the Pinnacles, etc... Since there was nobody within miles of the house, we didn't have to worry about waking up the neighbors if we were outside on the deck late and boy what great big decks it had! You can't beat star gazing at night from the jacuzzi. It's incredible! The pool was invigorating and we spent a lot of time in it and again, the views were just stunning! We truly had a blast and wished we could have stayed longer than just a 3 day weekend. I would have given this 5 stars had it not been for a few things that weren't working or that could use some improvement (i.e. the stereo didn't work and the wireless network wasn't too reliable so we had a hard time getting music out there or using our phones, the jets in the jacuzzi didn't work so there were no bubbles, the trash compactor didn't compact, the pilot light on the gas stove was apparently off so we had to light it with a lighter every time we used it, some lightbulbs were out so it was a bit dark on the deck for eating dinner outside if you got started a bit late, but we did it anyway! haha, the chains on a couple of the bikes kept falling off...things like that). It does get hot there and you do need to open the doors to cool the house down and since many of the doors had no screens you end up with a lot of flies in the house which was annoying. Truly, though, it was all pretty minor stuff, for the most part, and easily fixable. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a great get away. For the most part, it fulfilled all of our expectations and the owner, Bert, is a really nice guy, so if you want a beautiful house with a lot of room and the best views you can imagine with all the seclusion you could ask for, this is the place to go! I couldn't have picked a better place to house all of my friends and to celebrate my 50th birthday. I would go there again in a heartbeat!"

  • HOME ~ peace and relaxation. Natural beauties!

"What a pleasant surprise! The family room downstairs had sleeping arrangements galore. We actually missed a sleeping quarters (which is not counted in as a bedroom) with a bathroom and exit door for two days because it is so private (great for a Nanny.) The home is spacious with breathtaking views and natural light galore. The kitchen was comparable to my own kitchen. I looked in the cupboards while I was cooking.....flour, oil, every seasoning you could ever need....EVEN different coffee flavors!! AND, an assortment of music, books, games and soap for the washing machine. We were delighted every minute we were there and will return. The home was located near a main road for easy access to groceries, restaurants, the beach, Fisherman's Wharf, the Aquarium, and visitor sites. Thank you for making our stay so memorable...Home away from home!"

  • Central to Everything

"Enjoyed a fantastic week on the Monterey Bay Peninsula. Well maintained and cleaned, this house is really centrally located allowing us to enjoy not only Monterey, but Carmel and Big Sur. Owner was responsive to all inquiries and house is as described on web site. If you love seafood, try PassionFish in downtown Monterey."
