Hummingbirds Abound, Morning Sun on Mountains, Quiet, Beautiful Abode!
"Three of us stayed here in May and literally, when each of us arrived (separately) we spent the first few minutes walking around this gem saying "Wow. Wow! Wow!!!" We were in town for a 3 day workshop and found ourselves rising with the dawn to meditate on the porch and drink in every beautiful minute in this nature haven. I was delighted to walk right out the door in the morning onto the Shelf Trail that rims Ojai Valley. Bring your walking shoes - Pratt Trail, 1/2 mile walk is also well-worth exploring, and the grocery store and many delicious restaurants are an easy 15 minute walk down the hill to town and back up. What a joy to find so many thoughtful and welcoming touches inside, too...fresh flowers, an urn with several gallons of filtered drinking water, a well-equipped kitchen & bath, comfy beds, plenty of closets, drawers and hangers provided, fun 50's classic furniture and lamps, field guides on the bookshelf and so much more. Surprisingly spacious feeling for a small space. The queen bed in the open-floor-plan room becomes a peaceful sleep space when the curtains round it are drawn. The little bedroom on the side of the studio is a gem in itself - lie in bed and look right out over the valley. Many thanks to our kind and generous hosts!"

"We had a reunion party over New Years Eve and spent two nights in this beautiful home. A bit hard to find at first (Google Maps places the pin incorrectly) but once you enter, the places is paradise. With a sand volleyball court and massive swimming pool, we had a active yet relaxing stay. The house is equipped with many futons for extra people, and there is a lot of room to set these up. I would definitely come back for a similar get away."

"The bad news was that it rained the whole time during our stay at the Rolling Thunder Ranch The good news was that it didn't really matter. We had a group of 20 of us (people slept on air mattresses) that decided on this secluded location for a weekend getaway. We were not disappointed one bit. The place is exactly like the pictures. There are tons of different areas to escape to and the grounds are maintained perfectly. Only downfall is that the pool isn't heated. That would be literally my only complaint. Lisa was VERY responsive and answered emails promptly. Carla, Lisa's assistant, was amazing. TONS of firewood for the grill and various firepits. Outdoor fuse ball was a hit. Hiking across the street is fun. I will definitely be returning."

Cozy and quirky cabin, with sounds of the creek outside your window
"My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at the Love Shack for his birthday. Even though I had read the reviews beforehand, nothing could have prepared me for the wonder and the splendor and the absolute delights that awaited us.
The cabin is smack in the middle of nature, with all sorts of greenery surrounding the place. At night, we fell asleep to the sounds of running water and frogs, and in the morning we awoke to the same creek and chirping birds. We spent lazy mornings drinking coffee and breakfasting on the covered porch, where we could watch and hear the nature around us.
The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare light meals--stove, oven, mini-fridge (even had a tiny freezer compartment!), pots, pans, and a baking tray. We built a fire both nights, using the cut wood buffet that was in the shed right outside the cabin--it made the cabin even more cozy.
One of the most fascinating parts of the cabin was the art. Pieces by Beatrice Wood were in ample supply, peppered throughout the cabin. It was fun and humbling to read the books about her, while trying to spot all her pieces in the cabin.
Even though the Love Shacks seems out of the way on a map, it really is not far from all the fun Ojai things you might want to do. There are plenty of trailheads close by (we did the Cozy Dell Trail, less than half a mile from the cabin). The main drag of Ojai is about a 10-minute drive away, and there are quite a few other spots in between.
Ojai is a funky, spunky town, and getting to stay at the Love Shack while exploring made the weekend infinitely better. The next time we visit Ojai, we definitely want to return to the Love Shack."
