  • Our Dream Home!

"We rented this house for a girl’s weekend. This house is AMAZING. We rented both the house and the loft. When we arrived the house was spotless and so welcoming. Their creative eye for home decorating is incredible. The entire house looked like something out of a Pottery Barn magazine. The entire weekend we all called it our ‘dream home.’ Prime location with about a 10 minute walk to downtown or a very short car ride. Renting this house from beginning to end was seamless. The owner was very prompt with answering questions via email or phone. I highly recommend this property and can see myself renting this again in the future!"

  • Best Value for the Location

"My husband, our three kids, and I were quite contented in this little home away from home. As others have noted, it's a simple, humble, old school dwelling with quirks, but it's quite cozy and has just about everything you need...except a working corkscrew, but that was easy enough to pick up down the road. The TV in the master bedroom doesn't work right (volume has to be turned on full blast), but that didn't affect us, since we used the one in the living room (we never even tested out the one in the kids' room). The hot tub was great, the view from the backyard can't be beat - Morro Rock + hummingbirds & butterflies on a flowering bush. The sunsets, unfortunately, are obscured by large trees on that side, but that's the price of privacy. Speaking of which, the house on the left side (whose deck/windows face the hot tub) is also a vacation rental, so it's kind of a wild card as far as noise goes - we had some loud neighbors for a few days, and the walls are thin, but since were mostly out and about during the day, zoned out on TV at night, it wasn't much of a problem. There were some ants, but ant poison was conveniently left on the counter, so my husband used that to contain/eradicate them, and it did the trick without much hassle. All the appliances we used worked fabulously - microwave, DVD player, washer/dryer (very handy, especially for towels), and stove. There were lots of cooking staples, and we used a few, but the spice cupboard needs some clean up - sticky, jumbled, just basically neglected. The dishes/utensils are eclectic. A lot of mismatched china, which we weren't sure was microwave save, so I'd recommend bringing your own favorite mug, knife, etc., if you are at all picky about kitchen stuff. The house is clean and spacious - large living/dining/kitchen area - with a wood stove that was a delight to use, though it was really too hot this time of year for that. The kids liked the selection of games and had fun playing Life. The master bed - king size - is unbelievably comfortable. Seriously the best bed in my four decades of sleeping (full disclosure: I can't remember my crib). What else? Did I mention central location? Basically ten minutes or less to SLO, Pismo, Morro Bay, and not much further to Atascadero, Paso Robles, Cambria, San Simeon. We actually liked Los Osos itself - Nichols Pizza (w/family friendly arcade), Sylvester's Burgers, and of course Montana De Oro / Spooner's Cove. Thanks, Jean!"

  • Best ever VRBO experience at Wild Hair Ranch!

"To celebrate our son's wedding at The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, family members from Florida, Wisconsin, and LA converged on The Wild Hair Ranch: the perfect setting for multi-generational guests. 8 adults and 2 little grandchildren luxuriated in the comfortable beds, spacious common area, well-appointed kitchen, and numerous bathrooms. We cooked for 10, jumped on the trampoline, dribbled to the basketball hoop, gathered round the firepit, picked vegetables from the garden, and helped ourselves to fresh eggs. The house is spacious, light, and airy. Want to try the fireman's pole? My granddaughter worked for hours in the art room...Extra long sofas accommodated our over 6 ft. fellows. A variety of dining tables provided space for game night. The impressive design and decor reminded me of IKEA meets Industrial. Other than personal groceries, absolutely nothing else was needed or purchased, which makes Wild Hair Ranch the perfect crosscountry destination or hub for local exploration."

  • Stunningly grand

"This home is stunningly grand, unique, and ultra-custom, yet casual and comfortable. It is spectacularly sited at the base of Bishop's Peak with views of the gorgeous San Luis Obispo hills in every direction. Wonderfully private - no need for any window treatments in this home. Alluring and lush landscaping lends the house to indoor-outdoor living. Access to Bishop's Peak hiking trails is "out the back door". We all enjoyed the pool, as our stay was in July. This lovely home was a perfect central gathering spot for our family (all adults, although kids of all ages would love it here) who converged from San Diego, San Francisco, and British Columbia. It is California at its most beautiful."
