  • Best Value for the Location

"My husband, our three kids, and I were quite contented in this little home away from home. As others have noted, it's a simple, humble, old school dwelling with quirks, but it's quite cozy and has just about everything you need...except a working corkscrew, but that was easy enough to pick up down the road. The TV in the master bedroom doesn't work right (volume has to be turned on full blast), but that didn't affect us, since we used the one in the living room (we never even tested out the one in the kids' room). The hot tub was great, the view from the backyard can't be beat - Morro Rock + hummingbirds & butterflies on a flowering bush. The sunsets, unfortunately, are obscured by large trees on that side, but that's the price of privacy. Speaking of which, the house on the left side (whose deck/windows face the hot tub) is also a vacation rental, so it's kind of a wild card as far as noise goes - we had some loud neighbors for a few days, and the walls are thin, but since were mostly out and about during the day, zoned out on TV at night, it wasn't much of a problem. There were some ants, but ant poison was conveniently left on the counter, so my husband used that to contain/eradicate them, and it did the trick without much hassle. All the appliances we used worked fabulously - microwave, DVD player, washer/dryer (very handy, especially for towels), and stove. There were lots of cooking staples, and we used a few, but the spice cupboard needs some clean up - sticky, jumbled, just basically neglected. The dishes/utensils are eclectic. A lot of mismatched china, which we weren't sure was microwave save, so I'd recommend bringing your own favorite mug, knife, etc., if you are at all picky about kitchen stuff. The house is clean and spacious - large living/dining/kitchen area - with a wood stove that was a delight to use, though it was really too hot this time of year for that. The kids liked the selection of games and had fun playing Life. The master bed - king size - is unbelievably comfortable. Seriously the best bed in my four decades of sleeping (full disclosure: I can't remember my crib). What else? Did I mention central location? Basically ten minutes or less to SLO, Pismo, Morro Bay, and not much further to Atascadero, Paso Robles, Cambria, San Simeon. We actually liked Los Osos itself - Nichols Pizza (w/family friendly arcade), Sylvester's Burgers, and of course Montana De Oro / Spooner's Cove. Thanks, Jean!"

  • Cosy and comfortable

"Wonderful cosy stay for our family of four. A short Walk to downtown, Thursday night farmers market, neighborhood Thai restaurant and coffee shop. We were made to feel at home by the owner and given excellent restaurant and activity suggestions. The kids enjoyed the front porch swing and game of horseshoes in the front yard. My wife and I enjoyed the outdoor courtyard, kitchen and fireplace. We can't wait to visit again."

  • Great Experience for City Kids

"I rented this house with my three kids, who I hoped would be able to have some grand adventures on the surrounding 400 acres of land. I was not disappointed. The house has a lot of character and is totally comfortable. Outside, my daughter spent hours bird-watching and taking photos, and all of us went on fantastic hikes each day we were there. A really special property that I would definitely rent again."

  • Great Stay - Road Cycling at it's best

"Bernice and Penny were great hosts! House is a bit in the country but it made for great star gazing. House is extremely clean with plenty room for privacy for two couples. The cycling outside the door of this house would have been incredible had we brought bikes. We used the house for a concert at the Pozo Saloon, great house for seeing a concert and retreating back for a great bbq. Thanks again for the great stay."
