  • Amazing Anniversary Stay!!

"We spent 4 nights at Old Edna and had the entire farmhouse all to ourselves! What beauty surrounds this beautiful old house! The grounds are well cared for, and designed for comfort and relaxation. I loved having 3 porches to enjoy while drinking our coffee, eating our dinner, and relaxing with our wine in the evenings. The inside was also just a place of rest and beauty!! Gorgeous furniture and old world charm set this place apart! I loved every aspect of Old Edna! The animals made it feel like home, the antique buildings made us wonder about the activities and people that have enjoyed this place for many many years!! What a fun history lesson we got from the owner and a new friend, Pattea. We took trips to downtown SLO and enjoyed the shops and restaurants, went whale watching in Morro Bay, and spent time in Avila Beach eating dinner while watching a beautiful sunset over the harbor. So much is so close and so easy to access. We even stopped at Hearst Castle on our way to Old Edna. I loved that this beautiful home away from home is off the beaten path and yet so centrally located to visit many fun sights easily. If you love wine, the tasting rooms are everywhere!! There is even one on site and a cute deli in one of the out buildings. Loved this place and can't wait to share it with friends and family! Thank you Pattea!! You are a special lady!"

  • Best Value for the Location

"My husband, our three kids, and I were quite contented in this little home away from home. As others have noted, it's a simple, humble, old school dwelling with quirks, but it's quite cozy and has just about everything you need...except a working corkscrew, but that was easy enough to pick up down the road. The TV in the master bedroom doesn't work right (volume has to be turned on full blast), but that didn't affect us, since we used the one in the living room (we never even tested out the one in the kids' room). The hot tub was great, the view from the backyard can't be beat - Morro Rock + hummingbirds & butterflies on a flowering bush. The sunsets, unfortunately, are obscured by large trees on that side, but that's the price of privacy. Speaking of which, the house on the left side (whose deck/windows face the hot tub) is also a vacation rental, so it's kind of a wild card as far as noise goes - we had some loud neighbors for a few days, and the walls are thin, but since were mostly out and about during the day, zoned out on TV at night, it wasn't much of a problem. There were some ants, but ant poison was conveniently left on the counter, so my husband used that to contain/eradicate them, and it did the trick without much hassle. All the appliances we used worked fabulously - microwave, DVD player, washer/dryer (very handy, especially for towels), and stove. There were lots of cooking staples, and we used a few, but the spice cupboard needs some clean up - sticky, jumbled, just basically neglected. The dishes/utensils are eclectic. A lot of mismatched china, which we weren't sure was microwave save, so I'd recommend bringing your own favorite mug, knife, etc., if you are at all picky about kitchen stuff. The house is clean and spacious - large living/dining/kitchen area - with a wood stove that was a delight to use, though it was really too hot this time of year for that. The kids liked the selection of games and had fun playing Life. The master bed - king size - is unbelievably comfortable. Seriously the best bed in my four decades of sleeping (full disclosure: I can't remember my crib). What else? Did I mention central location? Basically ten minutes or less to SLO, Pismo, Morro Bay, and not much further to Atascadero, Paso Robles, Cambria, San Simeon. We actually liked Los Osos itself - Nichols Pizza (w/family friendly arcade), Sylvester's Burgers, and of course Montana De Oro / Spooner's Cove. Thanks, Jean!"

  • Best Vrbo we have rented

"This is my third rental through VRBO and by far this is the most well stocked. Bring your food and clothes and enjoy! The homeowner is so helpful and kind. My grandson enjoyed watching the deer outside. The house is well kept with lots of room. All our guests said their beds were comfortable. The room added on the back seated 20 and worked out great for having a 30th birthday dinner for our daughter. We will plan another stay."

  • Perfect get away that is close to downtown but very quite.

"This is the perfect balance of a very old and lovely house that has been made new. It has everything included: - Wi-Fi (high speed), - Pandora and Netflix / crackle - a kitchen with all the things you would need for a large (15 people plus) group including a large stock pot, crock pot, toaster oven, Cuisinart, confection oven chaffing dishes, etc., - sections: We were there for pleasure but I could image a company renting the house because there are three separate sections that could be used for break out sessions. - Great patio area that has a lovely outdoor couch. - Kurt: Was so helpful and thoughtful. I noticed he had a skateboard and the the next thing I know I am out skating. - Towels / blankets / paper towels / toilet paper all with extra located where you can find them. Can't say enough about the hospitality shown by Kurt."
