Clean! They thought of everything to make our stay comfortable.
"This is a self-contained suite with a full kitchen, plenty of storage space for travellers belongings, a fully furnished, comfortable living room, with a lovely view of the mountains. There is a full bathroom, complete with bathtub and shower, and a good quality washer and dryer to do laundry. Two comfortable beds with good quality bedding and plenty of extra blankets if needed, are nestled within the living room area. We had our own fenced in back yard, and private entrance to the suite. The back yard is very private and is complete with patio table, umbrella and chairs, and even a real hammock to relax in or take a nap. In the back yard there are shade trees and flowering foliage, as well as lime trees and avocado trees. We enjoyed our breakfast outside in the back yard every morning of our stay. We arrived close to midnight when we arrived, and Clara greeted us with a big smile and welcome. She took us to our suite which is adjacent to her house, and showed us around. We were each given a set of keys, and Clara told us to knock on her door if we needed anything. We didn't, everything had been thought of. We were left to our privacy and only saw Clara once again on the day before we left when we knocked on her door to tell her what time we would be leaving. The location is excellent, there is a market, a drugstore and Trader Joe's all within two or three blocks. Upper State Steet is half a block from Clars's place, and a short ten minute (if that) bus ride will take you right into downtown Santa Barbara. It was a perfect place to stay and we recommend it highly. To"

Beautifully appointed "penthouse" close to harbor and downtown
"My son and his family live in Goleta, and we have usually stayed in motels to be near them. However, since our last stay coincided with graduation weekend (!), we had to get creative -- and thankfully found this Affordable Penthouse in VRBO. It is beautifully decorated, including a lovely bedroom that opened onto a small porch/deck. We loved being above the streets and able to see the mountains. No more Goleta motels!!!"

"My wife and I spent two months in this amazing house in fall 2015 with our two dogs and felt like 20 year olds again. Every morning and afternoon we walked to the beach, spent evenings watching sunsets, rode the beach cruisers into town for dinners and essentially soaked up every minute of our time there. My wife found the kitchen to be the best she has ever used and we entertained visitors regularly. Even our dogs were happier in this house than they are at home! We have already rented the house again for 5 weeks next year."

"I spent a week in this lovely apartment and enjoyed every aspect of it (ok I did have a love/hate relationship with the enormous sofa but plenty of pillows are provided to help you get cozy). The apartment was immaculate. The kitchen not only has new appliances but a very nice quality cookware and I didn't look for any type of pan that I didn't find. With granite counter tops it was not only easy to keep tidy but was very attractive as well.
The bed ... OMGOSH the bed ... FAB-U-LOUS! You will get some great sleep on that bed. And although the closet is small, I think there would be plenty of room for clothes for two. Was nice to find a fan in there when I wanted to have the air moving at night.
And then there is the bathroom. It's enormous ... a huge jacuzzi tub, a beautiful shower with two heads, and two counter tops in case there are two of you getting ready for the day.
I too initially felt the the abundance of glass gave a little too much exposure but you are indeed only exposed to other residents and that turned out being kind of nice. A very quiet and safe neighborhood so I kept the windows open to the wonderful spring breezes the entire time I was there. And if you feel the need for extra privacy, every piece of glass has a blind to completely cover it. There was also a nice gas grill on the kitchen balcony and a bistro table and chairs. I seriously never felt I needed anything that I wasn't able to find in the apartment.
As other reviewers have stated, there are so many things to do and see within walking distance, but since I had a rental car, I found it wonderful to have an assigned parking space just feet from my front door. I only had to lug luggage up around 4 stairs so it was a very sweet deal. The next time I return to Santa Barbara, I will definitely request this apartment.
As a side note, I have only been back home four days and already received my security deposit back. Just don't think you can go wrong here unless you are there during a heat wave. No AC might be a problem then but it wasn't during my stay. Five stars all the way!!"
