Charming Beachfront Getaway
"If you're looking for a great gathering place for family right on the sand, this is the place. From the large upper deck to a generous supply of beds and quality linens, this place has it all. Perfect view, excellent location, quiet beach. Honestly, I can't imagine a better set-up than his charming home. There are a couple of things we weren't expecting. First, the house looks nothing like the painting featured on the website (other than being blue and white). There is no interior staircase. The lower two bedrooms require a trip outside and down the steps. Not a big deal but I pictured easier access. Plus, the appliances are a bit dated/small for heavy use. However, if you plan to just warm up items or cook small quantities, there shouldn't be a problem. But I have never seen a better supply of cookware, serving pieces, utensils and glassware in any home, rental or otherwise. As with any house built in the 30s there are typical signs of age but the owner is taking obvious steps to stay on top of these (ie. plantation shutters are gradually replacing originals) but the charm far exceeds any minor annoyances. Plus, the rooftop deck alone (also not mentioned in the listing) with its large BBQ, lounge chairs and tables would make renting this property well worth it."

Yet another fantastic stay at this beautiful home!
"We have just had our 6th stay at this beautiful home! We love it so much we keep coming back it feels like we are staying in a friends house rather than a rental property as it is so warm and comfortable, Nik the owner is very attentive yet considers our privacy. We have stayed at other rentals and been relaxing by the pool and the owner has just walked in on the rare occasion that Nik has turned up he always knocks on the door and never just walks in. The house is lovely and the gardens are beautiful plenty of space to relax as a group but equally lots of little places to sit and read a book in quiet. Ideally located for the beach, Santa Barbara the quaint charm of Montecito yet the hustle and bustle of LA is only 90 minutes away. In fact we love it so much we have booked again for next year!"

"Traveling to Santa Barbara for a family wedding, nine adults stayed in this home. The pictures provided do not do it justice. Beautiful home and beautiful view of the ocean. Well stocked with anything you might need. The home has several levels which allowed for private time if desired as well as plenty of room for all to gather. We were somewhat reluctant to be a little south of Santa Barbara (2-3 miles) but were very glad we did. It was more quiet and away from all the people and traffic. The owner was very pleasant to deal with. Would definitely rent again."

"My wife and I spent 6 nights at Creekside Montecito while exploring the Santa Barbara area. This is a beautifully landscaped property in a quiet (except for the train) neighborhood. It is a short walk to a beach and a 5-minute drive to Coast Village Road, which has several fine restaurants, small shops and a large grocery store (Vons). A ten-minute drive will take you to either Stearn's Wharf or the center of downtown Santa Barbara.
The studio itself is well-decorated and comfortable. It is above the garage so you are separated from the main house. The studio also has a small porch where you can sit and relax above the creek (which is dry, as you would expect during a drought). Although Nicola was not there, Cliff was a gracious host and gave us several good tips about what to see and where to eat.
I wanted to give this property 5 stars, but could not because of several issues. First, we called about an hour before our revival (as instructed). We were surprised to get a voice mail message from Nicola saying she would be travelling until Oct. 15. When we got to the house, there was no one there and no note. No one had returned our call so we left another voice mail message, sent a text, and sent an email. Then we went exploring Santa Barbara until someone got back to us. There was no response after a couple of hours so we returned to the house. Luckily, Cliff was home by this time. Did not understand why the voice mail did not give a number where someone would get back to us. Did not understand why Nicola (or someone) never got back to us at all.
Another issue is that the property is about a block from the railroad tracks. The train came by intermittently both day and night and the train whistle is quite loud. Twice I was awakened around 2am by the train whistle.
Finally, some of the info on the VRBO sie for this property can be misleading. This is a studio and does not have a separate bedroom. This should be obvious from the pictures, but it is described as a 1 bedroom, not a studio, in some places. Also, standard rate is listed as $165 per night, but we were quoted $195 per night.
In conclusion, I think the positives outweigh the negatives for this B&B - at least for a short stay. (There is not a full kitchen, so I would not book this property for longer stays.) We had a good stay and so I would recommend this property to others."
