  • A Cozy Get-Away

"This is a great place to stay in the Santa Cruz area if you are looking for quiet and privacy (and a good$$ deal). The property has several vacation apartments, nestled on beautiful, forested land. The owner says he built the cabins from wood he harvested and milled himself. They are charming. We stayed in the "Love Shack". This is a attic apartment with steeply arched ceilings - so you have to watch your head. Despite the 70s-ish suggestive name, there is nothing overtly sexy or romantic about it - other than the fact that you are in a beautiful wooded area which can have a fair degree of privacy if the other rental apartments aren't full. The people who run the place are welcoming and helpful. They have complied books of helpful contacts and information about local attractions which they have put in a notebook and basket displayed in the apartment. Note: None of the vacation rentals are wheelchair accessible and 2 of the three vacation cabins are accessed via substantial staircases that can stress people with knee/hip problems. Unless you are a hardy hiker and carrying all your luggage in a backpack, you will need a car to get to this property. The 'Love Shack is cozy for 2 people. the other 2 vacation apartments are roomier and look comfortable for a small family or 4 or close friends."

  • Exactly fit our small group

"What I liked best about this house was being walking distance to the boardwalk, stores/restauraunts and the beach. It is a perfect place to leave the car, and spend a weekend around the neighborhood. Plenty to do, good floorplan layout, and the upstairs bathroom is layed out in a way that allows for multiple people to use, so there are few toilet hangups if you have a good size group. I would love to see a couple adult-size wetsuits for the boogie boards the next time, but other than that, this house had more that what was needed. Will stay again!"

  • Perfect location! Perfect views!

"A week at the beach just before school started with 3 grandkids, ages 15, 10, and 6. It was just perfect. This tiny house had it all, views, short walk to beach, bikes and beach equipment in garage, hot tub to warm up in after watching the sunset. The photoes were accurate. The house was easy to keep neat and clean. The kitchen had a killer view and great knives, pots and appliances. The outdoor area is very private from the very quiet street. One bedroom was a lovely room across the garden, without a bathroom but perfect for 2 nights for my grandkids parents. It would be great for teens. I would give this house a 5 star rating if the bathroom was updated--shower was small and in need of replacement. My 15 year old granddaughter only took 2 showers, rather than the usual daily shower! The location is perfect: lovely small beach with surfers, seals, otters, whale-sightings, and beach fires at night. Just a 2 mile walk or bike ride to Capitola. A couple of blocks from the famous Pleasure Point - surfers paradise. Food and mall shopping nearby. We rode bikes most days. We took a whale watching trip from the nearby harbor on Stagnaros boat. Saw more whales than I ever expected, great captain and naturalist. A visit to the Seymore Marine center near UC was wonderful for the kids, touched a shark (very tiny shark). Lucky for me the parents took the kids to the famous boardwalk. I cannot wait for next summer and returning to this sweet little place!"

  • Spring Break Fun

"We made the long drive from Portland, Oregon to Santa Cruz for Spring Break! Three busy families took the week off to enjoy the most amazing views, fun in the sand, whale watching and of course tide pool exploring! The house was VERY equipped with everything we could need, even down to an espresso maker! Thank you for thinking of kids and adults with this rental. Love, love love!"
