  • Great location

"We rented this home for 1 week for a family reunion. There were 7 of us ranging in age from 76 to 22 years. We are all fairly active. The location is fabulous. From the upstairs master bedroom balcony we watched dolphins, whales, otters, sea lions, surfers, boats, etc. You could also see some of this from the downstairs living room & patio, or just walk across the street & actually feel like a "part of the action"! Just a half mile (easy) walk or bike ride to Natural Bridges State Park. Big beach, great spot for flying kites, and the butterfly sanctuary. The trail along West Cliff drive is paved, mostly flat, and follows the bay. 2 miles to the wharf & boardwalk, about 1 mile to the surf museum, lots to see & places to get down to the beach. You can also access the tide pools (& beach at low tide) right across the street from the house. We did not need our car while we were there! We brought most of our food, but the Safeway was a short (less than 1 mile) bike ride away. (We also brought our bikes). Less than a mile from the house is also the Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery, several wineries, bakery, cafe, etc. Again, an easy walk or bike ride. There is also a Costco about 3 miles away. All 4 bedrooms were upstairs. We thought there were 2 masters, but the one on the back side of the house only had a 1/2 bath. There was a full bath downstairs. The beds were comfortable, but for some reason no one wanted to shower in the upstairs hallway bath. They either used the master bath or the downstairs. The kitchen has a 5 burner gas stove, side-by-side fridge / freezer, microwave, double oven. All were clean & working. There was also a gas BBQ that we used on the patio off the kitchen. We brought our own propane tank, but there was one there. There were various pots, pans, etc. Service for 8 dishware & extra silverware. I would suggest bringing a sharp knife if you plan to carve any meats! The dining room table was great for family meals as well as board games, etc. No one ever used the DVD. There was a washer & dryer in the garage & both worked. The overall condition of the house was good, but it really needs a good cleaning. There was ample parking & the neighbors were friendly."

  • Great Stay at Bonny Doon Treetops

"We had a great stay at Tree Tops in Bonny Doon from Mid December 2014 through Mid January 2015. Of course Santa Cruz is a great place, lots of unique dining areas, the wharf where we saw a breathtaking sunset and watched the seals-a drive up highway 1 to SF on a day when many surfers were out. My favorites, Davenport landing beach and the UCSC arboretum, are close drives. Tap water tastes really great, no need to buy bottled water A great library, no need to bring reading material Very comfortable beds Large master bedroom upstairs with hot tub off the deck. Downstairs has living room with big screen, two bedrooms and bath- almost separate area so very nice for couples or in our case grown children who came to visit over the holiday. House is natural and scent free Fully equipped dining area with stemware, cloth napkins, dining and serving dishes- outside grill and fireplace- great for entertaining family and friends. Quiet and private with views of boats passing on the ocean and wild life to watch-we enjoyed use of the binoculars and telescope. Upstairs deck with comfortable seating where we spent lots of time Fast Wi-Fi Internet throughout the house ATT cell phones didn’t work well but we used Skype and Facetime audio- I heard that Verizon is the best service for the Santa Cruz mountains. I highly recommend this HomeAway and hope to return soon."

  • Great house and owner!

"We had a great weekend at this house. It's walking distance to Natural Bridges beach, and well equipped. The kids loved sleeping in the loft, and it was large and comfortable for our two families. The owner was extremely responsive and accommodating. We'll definitely stay again!"

  • Elegant home in scenic surroundings

"This house completely meets the description provided: spacious, well-furnished, stocked with amenities, comfortable, great views, and conveniently located. We were very pleased with our stay and would like to return again for another special occasion. Our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter was so excited by the bunk beds and assortment of toys that she squealed with joy while hopping up and down upon our arrival."
