  • Wonderful views and great location

"The home was nice clean, private and cozy. We had no problems with the spiral staircase. The stairs to the beach are pretty steep but really not that difficult if you take your time. Location is great, beach pretty much to yourself, and not too far from Capitola or Carmel. The main bedroom is nice but the back bedroom is cozy with a small bed. Great for one or two couples if you do not mind the small back room. The best part is just hanging on the deck with a glass of wine and watching the sunsets!"

  • You'll love this place

"We can’t imagine a better place to stay in Santa Cruz. (We lived here for three winter months, January through March.) The house itself is immaculate, with large windows looking out onto a lagoon and down to a nearby neighborhood beach. One of the neighbors told us he thinks the view from Tony and Laura’s place is “one of the best in Santa Cruz,” and he’s right. The lagoon is surrounded by towering eucalyptus trees. There is a lovely deck above the lagoon with a hot tub that’s kept ready to go for you. The beach, just a five-minute walk, is a friendly, neighborhood beach The bathroom and kitchen are very modern, the fireplace is a treat if the weather turns cold (which it almost never does), and the tv-watching nook is totally comfy. And in our view, all of that isn’t even the best part. In just five minutes, you can walk in one direction and be on the walkway above Pleasure Point, looking out over the Monterey Bay and one of the most famous surfing destinations in the world. We walked there every morning before dawn to watch the sun come up. And if you walk five minutes in the other direction, down through those eucalyptus trees, you’re at the beach – where you can relax in the sun or, at day’s end, watch the sunset. How many places are there, anywhere, where you can do both of those things in just a short walk? Tony and Laura are marvelous, friendly, fair, and quick to deal with anything about the place you may not understand. We’ve already reserved our chance to come back. • Great place and great location!!!

"My wife and I rented the Aloha cottage for a weekend with our 1 year old. The cottage is small but very cute and well appointed. It is walking distance to great surfing and to great restaurants. The owner was very easy to work with. We will definitely stay here again!"

  • Beautiful, spacious home in a fantastic location!

"I wish I could give this home a 10 star rating! It's even more impressive than the pictures! The owner, Jill, was a delight to work with--communication was great and she was extremely warm and friendly when checking in. We cannot say enough about this home. The six beautifully decorated bedrooms, all with queen beds, allowed our grown children to have their own space, which they greatly appreciated. The dining room has a huge table with seating to easily accommodate 14 people, and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare a large meal. The living room/family room with large screen TV is another large gathering space where we were able to relax at the end of the day--all 12 of us, without sitting on top of each other. We also spent time on the beautiful brick patio, where you will find yet another large table, grilling some fresh fish on the barbecue. During the day, we walked to the wharf, strolled through the shops of the quaint downtown area of Santa Cruz, and ran along the ocean--never having to get in our cars. We enjoyed nightly fires in the firepit in the back yard--roasting marshmallows for s'mores. Our family time together is extremely important, since our children live in different parts of the U.S. I looked at many homes before deciding on Villa de las Palmas, and we all agreed this spacious home is why we had such a fantastic time. We are already talking about when we can return for another stay. I will also be recommending this home to our friends, as it is the perfect home for couples to vacation together. Thank you, Jill, for sharing your home with us!!"
