  • A True Home Away From Home...

"From the moment I booked this cottage to the minute we left, the owners made sure our visit was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. They were extremely responsive to all my questions too! The location is perfect: Not far from downtown and close to all the great wineries in the area. The cottage was extremely comfortable with two spacious rooms, a cozy living room and beautifully updated eat-in kitchen. The smallest details were not forgotten: Supplies for the bbq, all the essential kitchen tools, towels, and even a few toiletries. The owners were even kind enough to let us borrow their bikes to get around town, though in 100+ degree heat, we ended up driving instead (Next time for sure!) The horses on the property were sweet and really gave us that "country ranch" feeling. Sitting on the porch and sipping wine at sunset really set the tone for a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Thank you, Deanna and Gene for all your hospitality. I can't wait to come back to your lovely cottage again as soon as my schedule allows!"

  • Very unique rural destination, close to Davis and other suberbs......love dog friendly!

"My husband and I and our golden retriever enjoyed our stay at this fun ranch. We were expecting two more guests, but we enjoyed the quiet, relaxed setting and excellent location. The surroundings are so beautiful with the horses, chickens, vegetable gardens and fruit trees but so close to Davis and Vacaville. We were thrilled to get fresh vegetables delivered to our door. The only small down side was no paper towels, kleenex, clothes detergent (they were delivered near the end of our stay). We will definitely consider another stay at this fun location."

  • Great little place to getaway

"The cottage was nice for a weekend getaway. Great view of the delta. The owners were real nice even had a little trolling boat for you to use too. Can't wait to come back next month."

  • Just what we were looking for

"We were looking for a quiet place with plenty of room for our visit to the Sequoias and this place worked great. The kids loved being able to stay on a farm and had a blast playing hide-n-seek in all the rooms. They also provided plenty of food for breakfast and lots of farm fresh fruit. We felt very comfortable having our kids there, which is always a big deal for us. It is good to know that this is an old farmhouse and although they have kept it up nicely, it will have its own farmhouse charms. It feels a lot like staying at your grandma's house, which we liked. But if you are looking for something more modern and with less quirks, you might be disappointed. Our last night there, there was also a wedding on the property which was definitely inconvenient, but the owner was great at stepping up and making things right. The house is a reasonable distance between Kings Canyons and Sequoias making it easy to get to both, but the large trees are actually about an hour+ drive away from the entrance, so it isn't as close as staying in the park itself."

Central Valley Travel Tips

Vacation in Style in California Central Valley Vacation Rentals

A large number of California central valley vacation rentals are located in the delta area. This encompasses the communities of Bethal Island, Discovery Bay, Loche, Rio Vista, and Walnut Grove. The main attraction here is boating. Many of the vacation homes are located close to fast water areas so if you have a power boat or jet ski this is where you want to be. The views over the water are magnificent. If your rental home has a waterfront deck, as many of them do, you can spend the evenings out there watching the sunset and enjoying a barbecue while waiting for the stars to come out. The central valley has a peaceful unrushed vibe about it and many of the vacation homes are located in beautiful settings, either on the waterfront or in scenic valleys. It's the perfect destination to escape the bustle of busy city life and take some time to relax and rejuvenate the soul.

The central valley in California is a great place to take the family for a summer vacation, especially if you enjoy fishing, boating and other watersports. The delta area is particularly popular and many of the vacation homes are spacious enough to accommodate an extended family or group of friends. When not out on the water, you can explore some of the small communities, enjoy some wine tasting and stop in at the local markets to collect some fresh produce. It's also a great destination for a romantic weekend away or a honeymoon. Quiet and peaceful surroundings and beautiful landscapes provide the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the company of your significant other. Take a stroll along the water's edge or picnic on the lake's shore and make it a memorable vacation.

Best Time of Year to Visit California Central Valley

The northern central valley has a hot Mediterranean climate which means the summers are hot and dry and the winter months are cool and wet. Occasionally, thunderstorms may occur in the Sacramento area in late summer. The area is largely agricultural with the valley producing a phenomenal 25 percent of America's fresh produce. Tourists who visit in the summer and fall seasons can sample some of the fine produce at the many markets and farm stalls. The region is a popular summer destination, although the mountainous areas offer fantastic skiing and winter sports. If you happen to visiting during the rainy season, you can always snuggle up in front of the fireplace and enjoy the views from your window.

What There is to see Near California Central Valley Houses

The region has a rich pioneering history, particularly in the areas around Sacramento. Visit museums and historic sites that share stories of gold mining legends and the early pioneering days. The central valley is also extremely well known for producing award-winning wines. Whether you just enjoy a casual glass of wine or consider yourself to be more of a connoisseur, sampling wines from the various vineyards is a great experience. If you don't want to drive between the different estates, you can join an organized guided tour or even take a train ride through some of the wine districts. The beautiful scenery also lends itself to outdoor explorations. Hiking and mountain bike trails traverse the vast plains and climb up to explore the mountain forests. Horseback riding excursions are also popular and there are a number of historic steam trains that offer day trips to various parts of the central valley.
