  • Difficulty in making timely plan

"I overpaid for this property because it was one of just a few venues available for UC Davis graduation weekend. The problem was not with the house but with the management- The contract came in with the wrong dates, the address was never included in the contract and the owner was weeks if not months getting back to me after my initial inquiry months and months ago. That being said, the only problems with the house itself was, no BBQ when we arrived and the first night we had planned a family BBQ and secondly, a smoke alarm that constantly beeped from the locked owner's loft. When I contacted the owner, she said that it would be taken care of- what we got was a new battery left in the kitchen by the housekeeper and the beeping continued throughout our stay. Finally, when I asked when I could expect my security deposit to be returned (we left the place cleaner than we found it (although it was in reasonably good shape) I have yet to get a response."

  • Very relaxing and so adorable!!!!!

"Ok. I have to absolutely agree with the other comments and tell you how sweet the owners are. Very pleasant and are very assuring that she will be there for anything you may need. It is cozy, quiet, private, and relaxing. It was very nice that the fridge and freezer had plenty of bait to use as well. There were only a couple things that I didn't like. It wasn't perfectly clean but that wasn't what bothered me......I pulled out the trundle bed and found a couple mice droppings and tiny yellow pee spots. So I put it back and didn't end up using it. That piqued my interest so I looked around. Noticed a ton of dropping in the bathroom behind the toilet and around sink. My only other Concern was that the sheets on the queen bed didn't look clean. I saw dog hair on them and they didn't exactly have the fresh laundry scent. They looked slept in. I'm not super picky but thought that these were things that should definitely have been noticed and taken care of prior to our arrival. I found some Lysol wipes and did a scrub down. But other than that it is quite adorable and quiet. Unfortunately we didn't catch anything but one catfish. I don't want this to be a negative review cause my issues could have been a honest mistake. It is a mini house on the dock, so very possible a mouse could be hanging around. The sheets on the trundle looked clean besides what I saw. It truly is a gem! I would stay again I just wanted to post this so that extra precaution is taken to assure this doesn't occur again."

  • Excellent stay at the cottage

"We were two families that went and stayed at this house. We had an excellent time, and the hosts are just too good."

  • Wonderful rental AND people!

"First I must say that Scott and Demi are incredible people. They had a cancelation and were able to take us at the last minute when another place fell through. They were my angels! They were very considerate, flexible, and generous. I could tell that they really cared about us and people in general. It was a great place for me and my bridal party to stay the night before my wedding and bake a pizza. We were all able to get ready there in the morning and the Grand Island Mansion was just a ferry ride away. My brides maids were all very impressed with the bathrooms. There was plenty of room for parking. After the wedding ended at 4, I returned and took in the wonderful sight of my close friends and family sitting in the numerous chairs and tables on the deck out back overlooking the water. They swam off the dock, played horse shoes, snacked, and socialized. They all had a great time and many commented that they would like to rent this home someday. When they all left, it was the perfect spot for my husband and I to spend our first night together as man and wife. We will definitely be returning in the future, perhaps for the occasional anniversary escape! Simply beautiful, thank you a million times over! I recommend this for anyone."

Central Valley Travel Tips

Vacation in Style in California Central Valley Vacation Rentals

A large number of California central valley vacation rentals are located in the delta area. This encompasses the communities of Bethal Island, Discovery Bay, Loche, Rio Vista, and Walnut Grove. The main attraction here is boating. Many of the vacation homes are located close to fast water areas so if you have a power boat or jet ski this is where you want to be. The views over the water are magnificent. If your rental home has a waterfront deck, as many of them do, you can spend the evenings out there watching the sunset and enjoying a barbecue while waiting for the stars to come out. The central valley has a peaceful unrushed vibe about it and many of the vacation homes are located in beautiful settings, either on the waterfront or in scenic valleys. It's the perfect destination to escape the bustle of busy city life and take some time to relax and rejuvenate the soul.

Best Time of Year to Visit California Central Valley

The northern central valley has a hot Mediterranean climate which means the summers are hot and dry and the winter months are cool and wet. Occasionally, thunderstorms may occur in the Sacramento area in late summer. The area is largely agricultural with the valley producing a phenomenal 25 percent of America's fresh produce. Tourists who visit in the summer and fall seasons can sample some of the fine produce at the many markets and farm stalls. The region is a popular summer destination, although the mountainous areas offer fantastic skiing and winter sports. If you happen to visiting during the rainy season, you can always snuggle up in front of the fireplace and enjoy the views from your window.

What There is to see Near California Central Valley Houses

The region has a rich pioneering history, particularly in the areas around Sacramento. Visit museums and historic sites that share stories of gold mining legends and the early pioneering days. The central valley is also extremely well known for producing award-winning wines. Whether you just enjoy a casual glass of wine or consider yourself to be more of a connoisseur, sampling wines from the various vineyards is a great experience. If you don't want to drive between the different estates, you can join an organized guided tour or even take a train ride through some of the wine districts. The beautiful scenery also lends itself to outdoor explorations. Hiking and mountain bike trails traverse the vast plains and climb up to explore the mountain forests. Horseback riding excursions are also popular and there are a number of historic steam trains that offer day trips to various parts of the central valley.
