"The home far exceeded our expectations! it was in perfect condition, the location was great, and we had everything we needed! The view of the golf course was gorgeous and we had plenty of space to enjoy it outside! I would absolutely recommend the home to anyone and hope to stay there next year!"

  • Desert Bungalow-a retro delight

"This is my second year coming to this particular unit. I love this bungalow! The value for the money is amazing. It has an open floor plan and is quite spacious! It has loads of charm and it is in excellent condition, clean and well maintained. I would most definately recommen this place to a friend or relative. It's within walking distance to the hippest part of JT, where several restaurants are located. The owner is trustworthy, and timely in all of his communications. He is a pleasure to do buisness with. The photos are accurate, and the place is even more charming in person!"

  • Pozo Perfection

"My husband and I LOVE this quiet, very private place in the Deep Well area of Palm Springs. This is a neighborhood of beautifully cared-for mid-century homes, only a short drive from the tourist chaos of downtown. It is within easy walking distance from several good restaurants, even the quirky old-fashioned Elmer's, a favorite for breakfast. For those who like to cook, the kitchen at Pozo is well supplied and easy to work in. Our previous visits have been with other couples, and with three bedrooms, three baths, and lots of open space, six people can be very comfortable and even stay out of each-other's way. The big pool with an unobstructed view of Palm Springs' iconic mountains, which change color all day long, is everyone's favorite. We have stayed at POZO several times now, most recently, in the middle of the summer, just to get away. Sooooo relaxing."

  • Exactly as advertised!

"Our recent stay at Canyon Shores was thoroughly enjoyable. The property, grounds, amenities and condo were all accurately represented and lived up to (and sometimes exceeded) expectations. The condo was clean, large, well-furnished and had all the little extras needed, including condiments, plenty of towels, iron, in-suite laundry, and our favourite, Canadian TV, so we could keep up with our football team! Mark was very helpful in answering our numerous questions before arrival, and we had no issues while at the condo. The location within the complex was perfect - ponds and waterfalls on either side of the condo, and the balcony had a great view over one of the pools and the mountains. The tennis courts, gym, and main pool were only steps from the condo, and the complex overall was very well kept and quiet. Plenty of hummingbirds to watch while we ate breakfast on the balcony! The airport was less than 10 minutes away, and driving to Palm Springs to take in the Air Museum, Art Museum, and Thursday night Villagefest (a huge streetfair complete with food, entertainment and shopping) was even easier. There were no easy-to-walk-to restaurants due to the lack of sidewalks and evening streetlights, but that is the case in most places in the Coachella Valley. We found a great little doughnut shop, Vienna Donut and Ice Cream, about a mile and half away on Ramon Road. The staff were very friendly and we felt like regulars by the second visit. Babe's BBQ and Brewhouse on Hwy. 111 was a great place for an evening meal, sitting on the patio overlooking the River and the sunset. The Trilussa restaurant (Italian) was even closer to home, and had a great evening patio, with movie theatres right next door. The condo was furnished and outfitted in such a way that you felt comfortable and at home, yet the weather and the views reminded us daily that we were indeed in a lovely vacation spot. We really didn't want to leave, but sadly, our 2 weeks' was up. We would highly recommend Mark's condo for a relaxing getaway."

Deserts Travel Tips

California’s deserts are unique and spectacular places to visit. Located in the dry southeast of the state, the best known areas are the Mojave National Preserve, the Anza-Borrega State Park, and the National Parks of Joshua Tree and Death Valley. Each offering their own unique and stunning geological landscape, the unique flora and fauna which has adapted to these inhospitable conditions make any visit an incredible educational adventure.

Great Reasons to Choose California Desert Vacation Rentals

Staying in a California Desert vacation rental makes perfect sense. To make the most of any free-spirited vacation, flexibility is the key word and a spacious, fully equipped home away from home allows you to do what you want, when you want. No fixed meal times and plenty of privacy, you do not have to contend with noisy guests in adjoining rooms or loud music, unless it is coming from your own teenager’s private den! With space for all the family, a comfortable place to relax in the evenings and added extras such as hot tubs, in-house laundry and internet access, vacation rentals offer the very best base for exploring the California Desert.

Golfers and Outdoor Enthusiasts will Love our California Desert Lodging

These great expanses of desert at first glance appear to be complete wilderness areas but there are a host of ways to enjoy this amazing wonder of nature. The national parks offer excellent facilities for hikers with rock climbs and viewpoints with interpretive panels to explain how the geological wonders were formed. Mountain bikes and 4-wheel drive vehicles are great for exploring the rugged countryside and roads which are unsuitable for regular cars. Driving tours are the best way to cover the distances in the heat. Off-roading and horseback riding are allowed in certain areas. Explore the abandoned mines in the area, drive through the hostile Badlands, explore canyons, and discover long-forgotten ghost towns.

The California Desert is also a great area for golfers with many excellent golf courses around the areas of s Palm Springs and Palm Desert. Rock climbing, geocaching, picnicking and scenic drives are just some of the attractions available in this unique area.

Travel Tips for Reaching California Desert Resorts

Most visitors find they need a car to make the most of their stay in their California Desert lodging. The nearest airport is the John Wayne Airport at Santa Ana. Pick up a hire car to complete the journey which is around 86 miles to Palm Springs, 90 miles to La Quinta and 77 miles to Ranch Mirage. Los Angeles also offers a local air service to Palm Springs.

Four of the Best California Desert Neighborhoods

California deserts have several main communities, each offering a totally different experience of the area. Joshua Tree offers solitude, unique flora and fauna including the hardy Joshua trees, and endless nature trails. This is the perfect base for hikers, bikers and nature-lovers to explore the park, and appreciate this great outdoor experience. La Quinta lodging offers a country club lifestyle based around golf while Palm Desert and Palm Springs vacation rentals are luxury retreats in a hidden oasis with majestic mountains, palm trees, beautiful gardens and warm sunshine. There are also plenty of designer shopping malls nearby.

What to Expect from the California Desert Weather

The climate in the High Desert around Joshua Tree National Park is generally described as that of a mid-latitude desert with relatively moderate temperatures. The higher elevations will be seven to 10 degrees cooler than Joshua Tree and will get around three to four inches more rain per year.

In the winter, the average daily maximums range from 62 to 67 F but from May to October temperatures frequently exceed 100 F. July is the hottest month of all. Rainfall can be measured as just a fraction of an inch per month so for once, you can leave your all-weather gear behind!
