  • Amazingly Unique House and Gorgeous Property

"A group of friends and I stayed at this house for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we could not have had a nicer time. The pictures of the house don't do it justice, and we all spent hours just finding new things to look at and much visual stimuli. The house is furnished with all found or antique objects, so don't expect luxury hotel like accomadations. But the house is comfortable with lots of area to hang out and enjoy the experience of it. We cooked most of our meals there, and though the kitchen was definitely not a gourmet kitchen, it was functional and had everything we needed. We had breakfast every morning on the front porch and then would just fill our days playing games and enjoying the view. I would highly recommend this place for people looking to get a way for a bit and slow down."

  • great place to stay for visiting Joshua Tree

"This cottage is only minutes from the park entrance. It's clean and comfortable. It has everything you need plus more: full kitchen, tea and coffee, nice selection of books and movies, even a backyard BBQ. It met and exceeded all of our expectations! My wife and I highly recommend it to all visitors of Joshua Tree."

  • The perfect Joshua Tree retreat

"We have stayed at Quail Mountain House several times over the years, and always return to Los Angeles feeling refreshed and rejeuvenated even if it's just been a short trip. This house is an extremely special place, thoughtfully designed and furnished to be a balance of modern and cozy. A highlight of staying here is waking up in either of the bedrooms to an incredible view of the mountain. When the sun is rising, the color of the light cast on the rocks is one of the most beautiful things you can experience. For people who like to cook, the kitchen is extremely well equiped, with a good gas stove, and lots of counter space. It's a short drive to town to get essentials at the health food store (including some fresh produce and organic wines), or to the farmers market which takes place in the same parking lot on Saturdays. There is a wonderful collection of books, fiction and non-fiction, CDs and DVDs, and wood burning fireplace, if you bring firewood. I often end up reading a new book from the collection from cover to cover while staying there. Another major highlight is the close access to hiking trails from a short drive up towards the mountain. There are some marked trails that lead into the park from a point close by. As long as you take water and have a good sense of direction, you can figure out incredible walks into the mountains that get you back to where you've parked. It takes a bit of experimenting, and you need to be extremely mindful of the route you take, but it's incredible to be hiking on trails where you don't run into anyone else. This is type of place where you can really get into a meditative state and leave the world behind. It is a perfect place for writers or creative people that are looking for a retreat, as well as great place for a short getaway."

  • So perfect for a hiking getaway!

"We absolutely loved this property! We found the house pretty easily without needing extra directions and never wanted to leave! The location was awesome; it was on a secluded dirt road but it was still close enough to the West entrance into Joshua Tree National Park and restaurants and shops. The beds were super comfy and the house was furnished nicely and very clean. We'd definitely come back here if we ever get the chance!"
