"We loved Miriam's home. She has impeccable style -- super comfortable but totally hip and fun. My girlfriend and I made it our home base while we went and explored Joshua Tree. The Park is incredible but we were always excited to get back to the home base too! We felt totally at ease in the house--very user friendly. It's cool during the day but cozy at night. The backyard, patio, and outdoor hot tub are all heaven. The bed is super comfy, as well as the couches in the living area. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom is nice with plenty of big fluffy towels. No complaints! Also, Miriam was so patient and helpful with all of our questions about the Park, the town, her house, etc. We bugged her quite a bit before the trip and she was very prompt and thorough with her responses. You could tell she genuinely wanted us to have a good time. And we did! We can't wait to go back. We love your home Miriam! It's amazing! Thank you!"

"I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to sleep up to 8 people on a budget. It was very close to 29 palms and not far at all from anywhere in Joshua Tree Park. It's clean, with yards (horseshoes!) There are two lovely places to BBQ and have a big ol fire pit. Clean linens, comfy beds, plenty of games, interesting videos and books, dishes, towels etc. It is not a dark-sky location, as there are lights from the nearby military base. owner was very nice and lovely to work with!"

"My friends and I stayed here over a weekend and had the best time. The property includes 4 separate structures, each with their own unique qualities. The main house offers a bedroom and bathroom, along with several places for other people to sleep. The kitchen is small and rather outdated, but it got the job done and we were very satisfied.
My husband and I slept in the guest house, which was just perfect for us and our 2 small pups. It has an attached full bathroom and stove for warm. Our friends stayed in the bedroom above the garage that opens up onto a gorgeous and massive balcony and the remaining friends stayed in the art studio, which has 3-4 beds available. The only catch with the garage and art studio is that they do not have their own bathrooms.
Hands down the best feature of the property is the land. This house sits in a secluded area so when you open the sliding doors, you look directly out to boulders everywhere. We had so much fun exploring the backyard! Each day we made a fire in the firepit and enjoyed the quiet and beauty of the land. We attempted to use the jacuzzi one night, but the water was way too hot to get in, even after us waiting an hour or two for it to cool down. Plan ahead if you want to get in during your trip!
All in all, this was an exceptional trip and we absolutely loved the property. It is true that this is not luxury living, but it works and we had a blast. One last tip is that the property was challenging to find at night. A few of us got lost on the street leading in. It would be great if the owner could hang a sign or address along the road. And the pictures included on VRBO are not updated. The main house looked very different, in a good way."

Eco-friendly privacy at the door of Joshua Tree National Park.
"The proximity to the Town of Joshua Tree and the National Monument is what first attracted us to Rockhaven, but the cabin itself is so scenic that we didn't have much desire to leave.
The owners have thoughtfully appointed the cabin with all the necessities, including a well-stocked library full of resources for local hikes and other activities. The quiet surroundings, dark skies, and comfy bed made for peaceful nights where we soundly slept.
The cabin has many environmentally friendly features to minimize impact and the local wildlife are proof. The back porch is a birder's delight with Gambel's Quail, Cactus Wrens, California Thrashers, hummingbirds, Scrub jays and more.
We would stay again at Rockhaven Cabin and recommend it to those who would like to experience the tranquility of the desert and return feeling relaxed and rejuvenated."
