"The owners went above and beyond what I expected. Lovely property and thoroughly enjoyed the splash of hidden character"

"Wow, the yard at this place is spectacular! Talk about being right in the middle of the National Park--awesome. We were at a conference during most of the days, so we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the back deck by those gorgeous rocks in the back yard at night. It was so peaceful and quiet. The hot tub was wonderful too.
The house itself is not what I'd call luxury living, but we didn't really expect that either. There are lots of bugs (it is the desert) and many of the screens need to be replaced. The beds were comfortable and there are lots of places to sleep. The guest house has it's own bathroom and there is another full bath in the main house.
The art studio has 4 single beds and would be a great hide out for a group of kids or teens. The room above the garage is quite nice, however, there is no screen on the sliding door which goes out to a very nice rooftop deck (so would be hot in there at night without leaving the sliding door open).
The handyman did say that they would be fixing the screens, so you may want to check on that before you book if that's important to you. It was cool enough at night for us to leave the windows open instead of using an A/C, which was great--nice breeze every evening.
Kitchen: Not great. Plenty of plates, no good knife to cut veggies. No blender, we brought our own. Pans are very worn out and not very good quality. Inside kitchen is small. Outside kitchen is awesome.
Overall, we LOVED it. The energy there was the most amazing part. We even had some big horned sheep come for a visit one day. They hung out up on the rocks in the back yard and allowed me to take some great photos! You'll hear coyotes at night and see jack rabbits cruising around. There are even a few mice that live on the back patio that come out at night. One startled us one night, but he was super cute.
It's a great place to stay. Have fun!"

"This house was everything our bachelorette party could have dreamed of and more! The perfect location, the cozy colorful house, the great pool and hot tub, and most of all the super accommodating hostess Barbara were all superb! 13 of us stayed at the house for the weekend and there was plenty of room for everyone, tons of extra linens, plenty of cups and dishes, and even extra sunscreen! Everything was so perfectly arranged and you can tell the hostess takes great care to make the Boulder House a perfect getaway for anyone staying there. They even have an extra mini fridge which was super helpful for keeping our wine cool! Every lady in our group loved the vibes of the house and the beautiful scenery outside. We're already planning to return someday because we felt so welcome and at home there. I'd recommend this house to any group wanting to experience Joshua Tree and stay in a perfectly managed vacation home."

"This was my first time in the desert, and this was a great place to stay. The AC quickly cooled the place down and kept it comfortable even with 100+ F weather outside (though the upstairs bedroom took a bit longer to cool down, as all the heat rose up there).
The hottub was nice and big, seven people fit in it no problem. Though a bit deep for some of our shorter guests.
The beds are all very comfortable, and if you have a large group they provide an air mattress which was pretty comfortable as far as air mattresses go.
The house is very far from other houses, so it felt nice and private and we didn't have to worry about bothering neighbors (or being bothered).
It's super close to the Joshua Tree national park itself...in fact I think it's quicker to get to the park than it is to go back into town where food / groceries / etc are.
My only real complaint would be the hammock -- it was just not comfortable. It needed to be about twice as big I think. Here's a picture of me attempting to use it:

Not a huge loss, there is tons of comfortable outdoor seating to sit in and stare up at the stars at night. It was just an average night, no meteor showers that I know of, yet it was so dark I probably saw about 5 shooting stars in about an hour.
Overall a great stay, we visited both Joshua Tree National Park (5 minutes from the house) and Kelso Dunes (2 hours north/east from the house) and had an amazing time!"
