  • A great family weekend

"The property we rented in Legacy Villas was perfect for our family. We loved the floor plan, the home was well appointed and beautifully maintained, and the location was within minutes of the event that we were there to attend. All things considered, a very pleasant stay."

  • Palm Springs - Home Renatl - VRBO 397505

"We (6 of us) rented this awesome 60s-70s retro 3 bedroom home. It was renovated inside and was very clean and functional. The backyard was super w Pool, Hot Tub, Fire Pit and BBQ. 10 minutes to downtown Palm Springs and walking distance to local grocery store, banking, pizza, park for your dog, et. The Manager, Daria, was excellent to work with. We'd highly recommend this home - we had a great time there."

  • Indian Wells condo

"Owner is very friendly. Patio is large and overlooks the grounds and swimming pool. Unit needs a bit of an update and the kitchen area is very small but if you aren't cooking much it's okay. Very nice location and easy to get to wherever you like. We don't golf but found many interesting things to explore."

Thousand Palms Travel Tips

Vacation at a Desert Paradise in a Thousand Palms Vacation Rentals

The City of Thousand Palms is near an oasis where the San Andreas Fault forces deep groundwater to the surface. Palm trees grow naturally along the fault because the natural conditions create an underground dam where water reaches the surface, sustaining the Fan Palms and unique wildlife. And, indeed, a leisurely walk through these native Palm forests can be most satisfying as it can be 10-20 degrees cooler. Excellent Thousand Palms lodging can get you close to the oasis and make your California desert vacation most rewarding.

The Thousand Palms Oasis and Its Unique History

Because the fault forces underground spring waters up to the surface, it was a place of refuse for indigenous peoples for at least a thousand years. In 1900, the Oasis was originally homesteaded by Albert Thornburg, but later, in 1905, was traded to Paul Wilhelm for a couple of mules and a wagon. Wilhelm's dream was that the oasis would someday be a park for all to enjoy. It took a while, but in 1984, Wilhelm's dream came true. The Visitor Center, built from palm trunks, is actually the original homestead. The Coachella Valley Preserve now encompasses the Thousand Palms Oasis and is a 20,000 acre sanctuary for the endangered Coachella Valley Fringe-Toed Lizard.

Thousand Palms Vacation Rentals are Also Near Big City Sights

Although the Coachella Valley preserve and the Thousand Palms Oasis are magnificent, there is plenty to do in the area with over 90 excellent golf courses located nearby plus great restaurants and entertainment venues. Thousand Palms is located in Riverside County, which is the fourth largest county in California. And although there are miles of natural beauty, there are also art museums and cultural events abounding. Make sure to book California desert vacation homes soon so that you can enjoy this incredible area of California.
