  • Wonderful property, just perfect!

"This property is simply beautiful, pristine, relaxing, and comfortable with gorgeous unobstructed views of the San Jacinto mountains. The grounds are beautiful day and night, the pool and spa are well maintained and situated with a great view of of the mountains, and the outdoor living spaces are functional, comfortable and nicely decorated. The home's interior is also beautifully decorated and well appointed with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is fully stocked to make any type of meal desired. The entire property is very private and peaceful. The home is on a quiet street but close enough to walk to restaurants and shops on Palm Canyon Drive. Communication with the owner was excellent and made the rental transaction simple and convenient. The concierge was very helpful in getting us checked in and out and offered great advice on how to make the most of our first visit to Palm Springs. It was a perfect vacation from start to finish."

  • Interesting low-key destination

"Rented this vacation home for the month and wanted to pass on a few things should you be considering Borrego Springs, and this vacation home in particular. NB> I can't really say I'm new at VRBO/Homeaway as I've spent 6 months renting various places thru out the American Southwest. That being said, the following are a few points you may find helpful. - The home itself is larger than the pictures convey. I had 4 relatives visit over the time I was there and they all said the same thing. - Three full bathrooms is a definite plus. This, and the overall size, made this vacation home, monthly price competitive, with any of the dozen vacation homes I've rented. - No rear neighbours. Except for a telephone line, there is an unobstructed sunrise view to; a thru road at half a mile, a golf course/resort at a mile - and Fonts point at the horizon. - Neighbourhood: quiet. Double O Road is not a thru road, no issues with nearby neighbours/noise. - All appliances worked as described, dvd and wireless not so. My guests gave up on trying to play any dvds. Wireless was not a rental issue but a local, ISP reliability issue which was affecting various neighbourhoods in Borrego. If you are fine with a town of only 3000..... in the middle of the desert, ( personally, this is what I wanted), are looking to do abit of light hiking and occassional day trips to the coast or the Coachella Valley etc, then this place would be totally adequate. If you are expecting; stoplights, fast food takeout, nightclubs, shopping experiences etc. then probably not. I "would" recommend; an AWD ( alot of trailheads are not suitable for a car.) and a laid back approach that this is NOT Palm Springs, . You WILL have desert critters around"

  • So much more than we had hoped for

"Our five night stay was perfect. We were there to attend a golf tournament, but frankly, never wanted to leave the surroundings were so nice. Some things we especially enjoyed. Furnished like a home and lovingly cared for. Nothing about it felt like a rental. Sheets were lovely. Towels were plush. Bathroom amenities all there like a fancy hotel and then some. The kitchen was stocked better than my own at home with beautiful dishes, nice glassware etc, and spices etc for cooking. This condo is ideal for two couples. Each has their own bedroom and bath with separation for maximum privacy. Furnishings were of high quality, white carpet(how do they keep it so clean as a rental?). The unit was at the end of the cul de sac, so very quiet. Good location walking distance to La Quinta Resort. We played tennis several times on the courts in the complex. You can walk there from the condo. There were only two things, not big things at all but perhaps worth mentioning. The TV is a bit tricky to operate. Perhaps some written instructions would be helpful. The firepit in the front courtyard is a lovely way to spend an evening, but has a small tank. We ran out of fuel the first night after only 30 minutes. We would definitely recommend this place and will return. The owner is a dream to work with. Very responsive."

  • Perfect Location - Just what we needed

"We were in LaQuinta for a conference and spent most of our days at the center of the resort. The condo is easy walking distance from everything you need on the resort. Also, very close to entrance of the resort so easy in and out. Really enjoyed our stay. Exactly what we needed."

Deserts Travel Tips

California’s deserts are unique and spectacular places to visit. Located in the dry southeast of the state, the best known areas are the Mojave National Preserve, the Anza-Borrega State Park, and the National Parks of Joshua Tree and Death Valley. Each offering their own unique and stunning geological landscape, the unique flora and fauna which has adapted to these inhospitable conditions make any visit an incredible educational adventure.

Great Reasons to Choose California Desert Vacation Rentals

Staying in a California Desert vacation rental makes perfect sense. To make the most of any free-spirited vacation, flexibility is the key word and a spacious, fully equipped home away from home allows you to do what you want, when you want. No fixed meal times and plenty of privacy, you do not have to contend with noisy guests in adjoining rooms or loud music, unless it is coming from your own teenager’s private den! With space for all the family, a comfortable place to relax in the evenings and added extras such as hot tubs, in-house laundry and internet access, vacation rentals offer the very best base for exploring the California Desert.

Golfers and Outdoor Enthusiasts will Love our California Desert Lodging

These great expanses of desert at first glance appear to be complete wilderness areas but there are a host of ways to enjoy this amazing wonder of nature. The national parks offer excellent facilities for hikers with rock climbs and viewpoints with interpretive panels to explain how the geological wonders were formed. Mountain bikes and 4-wheel drive vehicles are great for exploring the rugged countryside and roads which are unsuitable for regular cars. Driving tours are the best way to cover the distances in the heat. Off-roading and horseback riding are allowed in certain areas. Explore the abandoned mines in the area, drive through the hostile Badlands, explore canyons, and discover long-forgotten ghost towns.

The California Desert is also a great area for golfers with many excellent golf courses around the areas of s Palm Springs and Palm Desert. Rock climbing, geocaching, picnicking and scenic drives are just some of the attractions available in this unique area.

Travel Tips for Reaching California Desert Resorts

Most visitors find they need a car to make the most of their stay in their California Desert lodging. The nearest airport is the John Wayne Airport at Santa Ana. Pick up a hire car to complete the journey which is around 86 miles to Palm Springs, 90 miles to La Quinta and 77 miles to Ranch Mirage. Los Angeles also offers a local air service to Palm Springs.

Four of the Best California Desert Neighborhoods

California deserts have several main communities, each offering a totally different experience of the area. Joshua Tree offers solitude, unique flora and fauna including the hardy Joshua trees, and endless nature trails. This is the perfect base for hikers, bikers and nature-lovers to explore the park, and appreciate this great outdoor experience. La Quinta lodging offers a country club lifestyle based around golf while Palm Desert and Palm Springs vacation rentals are luxury retreats in a hidden oasis with majestic mountains, palm trees, beautiful gardens and warm sunshine. There are also plenty of designer shopping malls nearby.

What to Expect from the California Desert Weather

The climate in the High Desert around Joshua Tree National Park is generally described as that of a mid-latitude desert with relatively moderate temperatures. The higher elevations will be seven to 10 degrees cooler than Joshua Tree and will get around three to four inches more rain per year.

In the winter, the average daily maximums range from 62 to 67 F but from May to October temperatures frequently exceed 100 F. July is the hottest month of all. Rainfall can be measured as just a fraction of an inch per month so for once, you can leave your all-weather gear behind!
