  • Ideal Vacation Condo!

"This is a terrific condo! It is very clean and comfortable with lots of living space, including a large master bedroom and fully equipped kitchen. The balcony has an incredible view of the mountains and we loved lounging everyday at the on-site pool and spa. The owners are helpful and have supplied information on the area and activities to do in and around Palm Springs. We hope to return soon!"

  • And another year makes Five Perfect Getaways

"Our fifth year at what has to be the cream of the crop not only in Indian Wells but the entire Palm Springs area. The home itself is a Mecca of Beauty inside and out, and the owners, Rita and Lynn could not be more accommodating and thoughtful. Walk thru the front door, view the interior and beyond to the Garden of Eden common pool area and all of the "to die for" landscaping, and any stress or tension you brought with you will melt away. The choices are many: golf, fine dining, fun and/or serious shopping, discovering the great outdoors, the many venues for your pleasure or just relaxing on the patio with a good book or your own thoughts, it's all here. This year during our time at this superb retreat, we made the decision to try to re-create for ourselves the same paradise that Rita provides by purchasing a place of our own in the Indian Wells Country Club confines. We will really have to work at it to replicate this very special place. The good news is that some other fortunate folks can now enjoy that very special month that we have cherished over the last five years. Please handle with TLC this paradise and THANK YOU, Rita and Lynn, for making us special and sharing your lovely home."

  • BEYOND EXPECTATION...

"We stayed at this beautiful well appointed home for 2 months. Home is in center of Palm Springs close to Ruth Harty Park and the area known as the Arts District on Palm Canyon (downtown areas)... We usually rode the available bikes at the house to almost everywhere. The only time we used our car was to the grocery store or when we wanted to venture out further away around the surrounding areas of Palm Springs. The home is close to restaurants with only a bike ride away. When searching for a long term stay - we wanted a Palm Springs feel and this place had it. From the interior furniture to the outside areas - all of the furniture was a true feel of a vacation home in Palm Springs.. The owners were very prompt when booking our reservation and never had to call the owner for anything as the home truly took care of itself. As the site states - "bring your toothbrush" is about what it amounts to. The home is fully furnished with very nice linens (bedding and all white towels) to the fully equipped kitchen. Each bedroom closet had it's own white robes giving an extra added touch of comfort and luxury in my opinion. Thank you for letting us occupy your home for the 2 months we stayed. Can't wait to come back and enjoy your home. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!! (This review may be a duplicate review as I mistakenly typed an oid (habit) email address.)"

  • PGA West golf course condo

"We spent a month at this comfortable and well equipped condo. I was looking forward to being on the golf course, but was quickly disillusioned when, starting at 5:45AM every morning, there was a parade of 5 - 7 golf maintenance carts just outside the master bedroom glass doors. The kitchen lacked for nothing. However, the dishwasher was almost useless. Dishes required a thorough scrubbing before putting them in the dishwasher. Talk about wasting water! The thermostat did not work well, making the place a bit chilly on cooler nights. The internet access was sporadic - not a good thing if one needs to use it for work or making contacts. The toilet in the 2nd bathroom needs some work so that it does not keep running - another waste of water. All these problems can be easily fixed and the result would be a condo that is up to the description given on the VRBO site. The grounds and pools at PGA afford pleasant walks and swims. Lots of golf in the area was a big plus for us."

Deserts Travel Tips

California’s deserts are unique and spectacular places to visit. Located in the dry southeast of the state, the best known areas are the Mojave National Preserve, the Anza-Borrega State Park, and the National Parks of Joshua Tree and Death Valley. Each offering their own unique and stunning geological landscape, the unique flora and fauna which has adapted to these inhospitable conditions make any visit an incredible educational adventure.

Great Reasons to Choose California Desert Vacation Rentals

Staying in a California Desert vacation rental makes perfect sense. To make the most of any free-spirited vacation, flexibility is the key word and a spacious, fully equipped home away from home allows you to do what you want, when you want. No fixed meal times and plenty of privacy, you do not have to contend with noisy guests in adjoining rooms or loud music, unless it is coming from your own teenager’s private den! With space for all the family, a comfortable place to relax in the evenings and added extras such as hot tubs, in-house laundry and internet access, vacation rentals offer the very best base for exploring the California Desert.

Golfers and Outdoor Enthusiasts will Love our California Desert Lodging

These great expanses of desert at first glance appear to be complete wilderness areas but there are a host of ways to enjoy this amazing wonder of nature. The national parks offer excellent facilities for hikers with rock climbs and viewpoints with interpretive panels to explain how the geological wonders were formed. Mountain bikes and 4-wheel drive vehicles are great for exploring the rugged countryside and roads which are unsuitable for regular cars. Driving tours are the best way to cover the distances in the heat. Off-roading and horseback riding are allowed in certain areas. Explore the abandoned mines in the area, drive through the hostile Badlands, explore canyons, and discover long-forgotten ghost towns.

The California Desert is also a great area for golfers with many excellent golf courses around the areas of s Palm Springs and Palm Desert. Rock climbing, geocaching, picnicking and scenic drives are just some of the attractions available in this unique area.

Travel Tips for Reaching California Desert Resorts

Most visitors find they need a car to make the most of their stay in their California Desert lodging. The nearest airport is the John Wayne Airport at Santa Ana. Pick up a hire car to complete the journey which is around 86 miles to Palm Springs, 90 miles to La Quinta and 77 miles to Ranch Mirage. Los Angeles also offers a local air service to Palm Springs.

Four of the Best California Desert Neighborhoods

California deserts have several main communities, each offering a totally different experience of the area. Joshua Tree offers solitude, unique flora and fauna including the hardy Joshua trees, and endless nature trails. This is the perfect base for hikers, bikers and nature-lovers to explore the park, and appreciate this great outdoor experience. La Quinta lodging offers a country club lifestyle based around golf while Palm Desert and Palm Springs vacation rentals are luxury retreats in a hidden oasis with majestic mountains, palm trees, beautiful gardens and warm sunshine. There are also plenty of designer shopping malls nearby.

What to Expect from the California Desert Weather

The climate in the High Desert around Joshua Tree National Park is generally described as that of a mid-latitude desert with relatively moderate temperatures. The higher elevations will be seven to 10 degrees cooler than Joshua Tree and will get around three to four inches more rain per year.

In the winter, the average daily maximums range from 62 to 67 F but from May to October temperatures frequently exceed 100 F. July is the hottest month of all. Rainfall can be measured as just a fraction of an inch per month so for once, you can leave your all-weather gear behind!
