  • Anniversary Getaway

"We spent three nights at the wonderful Lotus Lake House recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Lotus Lake House is situated in a beautiful coniferous forest, with glimpses of the lake below through the trees. Although it was the second half of November, there was still beautiful muted fall color around the lake. We hiked on the shores of the lake the day we arrived. It rained the following two days and nights, and we explored nearby picturesque towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City, watched movies on the widescreen tv, listened to music though the built in sound system, and just slowed down to the speed of life! We brought food to prepare from our home in the Bay area, and found the local grocery to stock items which we forgot. The kitchen is compact but highly functional. The bathroom has a wonderful shower surrounded by tiles made from recycled wine bottles. The bed was very comfortable, and we fell asleep listening to the rain falling on the roof. In the morning we saw a deer looking at us through the glass walls of the house. We appreciated all the energy efficient aspects of the home, and have happy memories of our time there."

  • A beautiful place to stay for work or a retreat!

"I was fortunate to find Vanessa's studio apartment as I relocated for work and a retreat of sorts. I stayed there for a little over two months and I really enjoyed my time. The studio and the property are very nice, and Vanessa makes sure you have everything you need. Grass Valley is beautiful and the studio is within 5 minutes of downtown. Vanessa is a wonderful host, and is quick to respond if a light bulb needs to be replaced etc. She really epitomized the welcoming and friendly culture of Grass Valley. She even took me to a basketball game and had my wife and me over for hot chocolate and scones! The surrounding area is beautiful for walks or bike rides. There is a small pond and horses around, so it really makes you feel like you are on a retreat. I highly recommend this place for anyone that plans to visit Grass Valley – Vanessa, thank you for everything!"
