  • Bachelorette party getaway - perfect remote location

"I rented this home in Spring for a bachelorette party. When I told the owner what it was for, she was completely fine with it. There were about 15 of us and I wanted a place that would be remote enough that we wouldn’t need to worry about noise levels and neighbors. I was concerned at first when I read the owner lived on the property, but we still had complete privacy and Diane only came around to greet us upon arrival and departure and was quick to respond if we had questions or concerns. Otherwise we never saw her and she said she barely heard us. There was PLENTY of space to sleep all of us comfortably with the various rooms, beds, sofas, pads, etc. There are some different hikes you can go on and Diane was kind enough to draw a map of the places and told us approximately how long the hikes were. A group of us walked to the old miners cabin and back. It took a few hours round-trip because we strolled and took pictures. Definitely bring water/snacks/good shoes. It’s a fun adventure and is so gorgeous. There's also an AWESOME outdoor (and completely private!) hot water shower with a view that I highly recommend trying. It's great to use before and/or after the hot tub. I would definitely rent this place again in the future. It’s a GORGEOUS area, is reasonably priced, the rental home is cozy and comfortable and Diane was wonderful to work with when renting this place."

  • Wonderful Cabin

"We spent a few days there in Mid July and found the place to be nice and spacious. it is also only about 5 -7 mins away from the South entrance of the park so it is conveniently located close to the Yosemite NP. We had the entire place for us to house a big group. Fully equipped Kitchen and 3 bathrooms. plenty of pull out beds. John the owner was very hospitable and came to help check us in (he lives only a couple mins away from the property so he is only a holler away if you need him) The only thing that you should know going in is that the upper floor of the cabins (loft area) can get real hot by late afternoon and it will cool down only by late night (say about 11pm or so) with open windows, since there is no air conditioning in the upper loft area that sleeps about 5 people. So if you are a late birder this shouldnt be an issue for you. if you like to go to bed at 9 or so then tough luck. Overall a good stay and I would do it again at Bear Cub Den"

  • Our Log Home Vacation

"July 19, 2014 Dear Diane, I promised I would write about our stay in your log home, for I truly believe it is a home, not a house. I felt that as soon as I walked through the door on July 2. As I sit by our pool today and listen to the water I remember sitting in your backyard and listening to the creek…. It really began a year ago when I contacted you about renting your home for my family. I was excited about the upcoming wedding of my son that was to take place on July 5, 2014 at Squirrel Tree Ranch. Little did I know when you and I made arrangements via email and phone, that my family’s stay at your log home would be so incredible. That first night, Wednesday, July 2, it was just my husband and me. As soon as I opened the door I felt embraced….the fragrant smell….the soothing earth tones….the high ceilings and wooden floors….the comfy chairs….the long wooden dining table that would accommodate all 10 of us….the bedrooms complete with bathrobes and fluffy pillows….the bathrooms with a step stool for my grandchildren and hair dryers for my daughter and me….the games…movies…ping pong table….the deck and barbecue…and the back yard where you could sit and relax into the silence….for the adventurous….you could open the gate and rock hop across the creek…catch tadpoles….walk the wooden plank to the other side and daringly swing on the rope and drop into the creek. While my husband and I enjoyed the quiet of that first night, when our children and grandchildren arrived on Thursday, new adventures began and treasured memories were made. The patter of little feet and the voices of our grandchildren calling for Nahni and Papa to come fix breakfast…..their excitement upon discovering the hammocks and the creek and rope swing…celebrating Kayden’s 8th birthday on the 4th of July, complete with streamers draped on those high ceilings and cake and ice cream at the kitchen table. On Saturday, one of the photographers came to take pictures of our son getting ready for his wedding….so many beautiful pictures and candid shots of Matthew with his nieces and nephews…it was so much fun to see and again the log home provided the perfect setting for so many wonderful and playful pictures! On Sunday some of my immediate family moved out and my sister and brother and their spouses moved in. Again your home welcomed this “adult” gang …. The last night I stayed by myself and immersed myself into the quiet...a magnificent way to end an incredible 7 days!"

  • WOW!! This cabin is amazing

"My husband and I stayed at Mary's beautiful cabin to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Neither of us had been to the Yosemite area before and this was an unforgettable vacation. The cabin is gorgeous...has everything you could possibly need and more. The details and thought that went into the design on this beautiful home are remarkable and make it very special. The bed was so comfortable and the linens so soft. We didn't spent a whole lot of time at the property since most of our time was spent driving & hiking around Yosemite and taking it in all the magic is has to offer. It was great to come "home" and relax here after a long day of being out and about. We made some amazing meals in the well equipped kitchen and enjoyed star gazing at night from the wrap around deck outside. We even got to see some beautiful Mule Deer just a few feet from the living room in the mornings drinking from the watering hole. The next time we come back to Yosemite (and we will be back) we will plan to stay here again. What an incredible find and a special place. Thank you Mary!!"
